Dr. Christoph Berndt is a member of the Alternative für Deutschland (AfD) parliamentary group in Germany. In a video statement translated by RAIR Foundation USA, Mr. Berndt slammed the German government’s coronavirus restrictions as an abuse of power and demanded they be lifted immediately. He also believes it is every citizen’s “civic duty” to protest these restrictions. Furthermore, Berndt denounced the government’s spread of misinformation stating, “The German government has been and remains one of the biggest fake-news producers during the Corona crisis.”
“The observable effects and impacts of COVID-19 do not provide sufficient evidence, in terms of the health effects from COVID-19 on society as a whole, that it is anything more than a false alarm.” said Berndt.
Dr. Berndt called for the immediate end of all coronavirus lockdown measures as they are unconstitutional government restrictions, “Continuing these measures is no way justified. Even loose shackles are still shackles and the continuation of our shackles is an abuse of power” said Berndt.
The politician implored all citizens to read an internal paper that leaked from the German Ministry of the Interior which states the coronavirus poses no greater danger to Germans than any other virus. Dr. Berndt asserts the German government silences anyone challenging its coronavirus narrative. Reminiscent of the days of the “DDR, the rulers are afraid of the truth because it makes the government’s actions appear absurd. They are also afraid of citizens who speak the truth.”
Watch Dr. Christoph Berndt translated by RAIR Foundation USA:
Dr. Berndt reference a specific example of former politician and human rights activist who was violently arrested by police for challenging the governments coronavirus narrative and draconian restrictions:
Just how great their fear has become we witnessed a week ago in Berlin, when a dozen policemen led the civil rights activist Angelika Barbe away from the Alexanderplatz.
RAIR previously reported on Angelika Barbe’s arrest:
Tens of thousands of citizens have been rallying across Germany for weeks against what Dr. Berndt calls the government’s unjustified coronavirus measures. As RAIR previously highlighted. the AfD Party seems to be the only party fighting what they call the “coronavirus false alarm” and “left-wing media and social media censorship of anyone contradicting the communist-influenced World Health Organization’s (WHO) coronavirus narrative.“
Dr. Berndt also addressed the party’s opposition to the planned construction of a Tesla Gigafactory in Grünheide. The AdF believes the Tesla factory threatens the safety of the communities drinking water. Furthermore, they feel the project will be of little benefit to Germans and that Tesla will seek to bus in lower-paid workers from nearby Poland.
Recent turmoil has erupted in the AfD party over the expulsion of one of their popular leaders Andreas Kalbitz’ for his previous youth memberships with German groups. The decision has caused friction within the party, with many of the AdF member feuding among themselves over the controversial decision. Dr. Berndt voiced his concerns and need for party unity:
The decision to revoke Andreas Kalbitz’s party membership is, regardless of what the legal assessment is, a serious political mistake. It is damaging to the party, because it threatens to tear the AfD apart. The order of the day is to counteract a splitting of the AfD into competing factions and parties.
The AfD is the only classical European party on the German political spectrum. They are family oriented, want secure borders, and believe in the preservation of the nation state of Germany, much as President Trump does of America. Now more than ever it is important for their party to remain unified and focused on the radicals and left-wing leaders trying to establish total control over German society.

Hello dear friends. Even on the Robert Koch Institute’s own COVID-19 dashboard, the graph of daily cases shows that the “epidemic”, if the term was justified at all, is practically over. Since the beginning of May, the only cases being listed are according to “notification” date. These are cases with an unknown onset of the disease and — probably far more frequently — cases without symptoms. If the restrictions on our private and economic lives and our basic rights ever had medical justification, that justification is long gone. Continuing these measures is in no way justified. Even loose shackles are still shackles, and the continuation of our shackling is an abuse of power. “The observable effects and impacts of COVID-19 do not provide sufficient evidence, in terms of the health effects from COVID-19 on society as a whole, that it is anything more than a false alarm. The government’s protective measures, those original safeguards, which have now lost all meaning and purpose, are still in place for the most part. It is strongly recommended that these measures be lifted completely and immediately to prevent further harm to the population — especially unnecessary additional deaths. The deficits and failures in crisis management have subsequently led to the provision of invalid information and thus the misinforming of the population. The following accusation could be made: The German government has been and remains one of the biggest fake-news producers during the Corona crisis.” I have just read the e-mail sent on May 8th by Stephan Kohn, a ministerial official, to which he attached a study on government action during the “Corona pandemic”. A study which unfortunately was not received well by the Minister of the Interior or the Federal Government. I highly recommend that you read it. It can be found on the internet blog Achse des Guten [Axis of Good]. Everyone should read it and pass it on. Stephan Kohn was removed from office because of his analysis that he made in cooperation with scientists like Dr. Sucharit Bhakdi, which contradicts the dogma of the infallible government. And as in the DDR, the rulers are afraid of the truth because it makes the government’s actions appear absurd. They are also afraid of citizens who speak the truth. Just how great their fear has become we witnessed a week ago in Berlin, when a dozen policemen led the civil rights activist Angelika Barbe away from the Alexanderplatz. We also saw it last Tuesday in Cottbus, when several hundred police officers tried to contain a rally with 50 participants. Let me repeat: Our continued shackling by containment orders is an abuse of power by the state. Protesting against this is now a civic duty. Speaking of rebellion, last Tuesday a citizens’ initiative in Potsdam sent an open letter to state environment minister Axel Vogel (Alliance 90/The Greens). It demanded an end to the planned construction of the Tesla Gigafactory in Grünheide. The factory for electric cars is a prestige project for the sustainable energy turnaround, and it is to be built in an area 780-p where drinking water is under protection of all places. It could hardly get any crazier. In order to undermine resistance to the project, all kinds of tricks are being used, such as the “piece by piece” pre-authorization that will create a fait accompli at some future point. Even before the citizens’ initiative’s open letter was handed over, my colleague Lars Günther publicly sounded the alarm at the press conference of our parliamentary group in the Landtag [state parliament]. Concerning the subject of the Gigafactory, or better said Giga-fake-tory, in Grünheide, we will not let this rest anymore then the topic of the “lockdown”. The Federal Executive Committee of the AfD and its spokesman, Jörg Meuthen, also finds little rest. The decision to revoke Andreas Kalbitz’s party membership is, regardless of what the legal assessment is, a serious political mistake. It is damaging to the party, because it threatens to tear the AfD apart. The order of the day is to counteract a splitting of the AfD into competing factions and parties. The order of the day is to finally convene a federal party conference this year to elect a new federal executive committee.
