A man was killed in an area of Nigeria Abuja for insulting the Islamic prophet, Mohammad. The Daily Trust reports that the victim, a Muslim known as Small Hundaru, whose real name is Ahmad Usman, was accused of insulting Mohammad. A mob attacked the man at 1 PM after getting into an argument with a local Islamic cleric, according to the Kossyderrickent.
By the time the police had managed to get Ahmed to the hospital, he was confirmed dead due to severe burns. The local police chief condemned what he called “Jungle Justice.” This kind of spontaneous murder for criticism of Islam or its symbols is common in Islam for its entire history and is consistent with its scripture. More appropriately, it should be looked at as classical Islamic justice.
Like communist groups, in Islam, when a person is a threat to the authority of the state ideology, the people are empowered to take action. Muslims are allowed to take lethal action as so long as it enhances the authority of the state and state ideology.
The victim appears to have been beaten and then set on fire in this case:
“He was caught after buying food in the market in the afternoon, because when the blasphemy occurred it was just few people who were there, then a stick was used to hit him in the head. Though he had a gun with him, it was retrieved before the beating.
“Thereafter, he was stoned before he ran to the office. His colleagues at the office were aware but they couldn’t shield him due to the number of people that chased him. After he was unconscious, petrol was poured over him and not to stoke any fear in the market, he was burnt in front of the office.”
