Trudeau Government's War on Dissent: Charges Laid Against Former Councilor 15 Months After Freedom Convoy Protest (Interview)

The charges against former Ontario councilor Harold Jonker are intended to send a message to other elected officials considering supporting or participating in similar protests in the future.

The Canadian government’s war on dissenters continues as it launches criminal charges against former Ontario councilor Harold Jonker for his alleged participation in the Freedom Convoy protest in Ottawa in January 2022. The charges, which include one count of mischief, one count of intimidation by blocking or obstructing the highway, and two counts of counseling to commit an indictable offense, were filed 15 months after the protest and are an obvious tactic to silence those who disagree with the government’s policies.

Jonker was expected to report to Ottawa on May 10 to face these political charges. RAIR Foundation USA had the privilege of interviewing the former councilor and owner of Jonker Trucking Inc. following his court appearance:

Jonker’s case is just one example of the government’s ongoing efforts to shut down dissenting voices in Canada. In January 2022, the Trudeau Liberals invoked national security legislation to quell the peaceful protests aimed at opposing draconian and unconstitutional Covid-19 restrictions. And yet, more than a year later, participants are still being charged for their involvement. This starkly contrasts Justin Trudeau’s actions during the height of the Black Lives Matter protests in many cities, which were often marked by violence. Despite the strict lockdown measures in Ottawa at the time, Trudeau appeared at a massive BLM protest and kneeled with the protestors.

Jonker had previously faced reprimand by the Office of the Integrity Commission (OIC) for his role in the Freedom Convoy and was suspended without pay for 30 days from his councilor position. In addition, he was instructed to repay any “gifts” he may have received, such as coffee or food, during his participation in the anti-mandate demonstration on Parliament Hill.

The charges against Jonker are intended to send a message to other elected officials considering supporting or participating in similar protests in the future. This is a worrying development, as it undermines the very foundations of democracy and free speech. Elected politicians should be able to express their views and participate in peaceful protests without fear of retribution from the government.

Fortunately, Jonker is not alone in his fight. The Justice Centre for Constitutional Freedoms (JCCF) has filed a legal challenge on behalf of Jonker, arguing that elected politicians should not be able to weaponize codes of conduct to silence and intimidate their political opponents. The JCCF’s challenge is an important step in defending the right to free speech and democracy in Canada.

The charges against Jonker indicate an attempt by the government to silence those who hold dissenting views. Such actions are unacceptable in a democracy, and fighting against such abuses of power is crucial. The right to free speech and peaceful protest must be protected, and elected officials should be able to express their opinions without fear of reprisal. However, the battle to restore democracy in Canada is still ongoing, and it is the responsibility of all citizens to uphold what is just and fair.

  • Truedope’s gestapo went after assets and bank accounts of the protestors. He is a demonseed and pervert. Fidel Castro boffed his mother, and Truedope was spawned. The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. Marxist bloodlines run deep. Marxists and satanists both wish to enslave humanity.
