During a recent football match in Warsaw, fans of Legia Warsaw, known for their passionate support, seized the moment to make a clear statement. Displaying a banner that read, “We don’t want Berlin, Lampedusa, or France here – zero tolerance for immigrants,” they expressed their firm opposition to the EU’s new policy.
Remarkably, fans from the opposing team, hailing from Czestochowa, typically arch-rivals of Legia Warsaw’s supporters, joined in solidarity by displaying a similar message on their banner. This unusual act of unity and cooperation among Polish football fans underscores the depth of sentiment surrounding the Migration Pact vote.
Austria, Czechia, and Slovakia opted to abstain from voting on the Migration Pact, while the majority of EU member states supported the new policy. The division over this issue reflects the ongoing debate within the EU regarding immigration and the relocation of migrants among member states.
