A Brooklyn Islamic family has come under fire for brazenly raising a Taliban flag outside their home, igniting a storm of outrage. The flag, flown alongside a Palestinian flag, was quickly removed after local Councilwoman Inna Vernikov (R-Brooklyn) publicly condemned the display.
The Taliban’s flag is white and features the Quranic verse, “La ilah ila Allah, Mohammad Rasoul Allah,” which translates to “There is no god but Allah, and Muhammad is Allah’s messenger.”
The Taliban is a brutal Islamic terrorist organization that aims to impose Islamic law globally. They have ties to international Islamic terrorism, posing significant threats to global security and human rights. This brutal Islamic terrorist organization is known for its intense hatred of non-Muslims, LGBTQ+ individuals, women, and anyone who does not adhere to Islam. The U.S. government categorizes the Taliban as a Specially Designated Global Terrorist (SDGT) group, making their activities and support for them illegal under U.S. law and subject to sanctions and other punitive measures.
Republican Councilwoman Vernikov posted a video online on Tuesday, standing outside the Brighton Beach home on Brighton 5th Street. In the video, she lambasted the residents for displaying the Taliban flag, the Islamic terrorist group that seized control of Afghanistan in 2021 after Joe Biden’s controversial withdrawal.
“We have terrorist supporters living amongst us,” Vernikov declared in the video, which showcased the black-and-white Taliban banner flying prominently above the Palestinian flag. Vernikov emphasized the proximity of the flag to a Jewish daycare and synagogue, highlighting the emotional and security implications for the community. The Taliban labels Jews as enemies of Islam and humanity.
A 28-year-old man living at the residence with the flag attempted to deflect the criticism, claiming his family was unaware of the flag’s terrorist associations. “We’re not behind any agency or any agenda or nothing like that. We’re normal, average New Yorkers,” he stated, insisting that the banner was meant to symbolize a general profession of faith among Muslims. This once again shows how average Muslims, while not engaging in violence themselves, support Islamic terrorist organizations carrying out attacks and other active measures for the destruction of the West and all non-Islamic polities.
Vernikov’s critique extended to national policy, linking the flag’s presence to broader concerns about illegal immigration and the left-wing government’s dangerous open-border policies. In a pointed tweet, she criticized the Democratic Party’s approach to these issues and questioned the effectiveness of Vice President Kamala Harris’s role as the “border czar.”
Vernikov’s condemnation struck a chord with many in the Brighton Beach community, particularly given the flag’s location near Jewish community sites. She reminded New Yorkers of the Taliban’s role in harboring al-Qaeda and Osama bin Laden, the mastermind behind the 9/11 attacks that devastated the nation.
Following the public outcry, the father and another relative removed both flags. The family claimed that the flags had been displayed for two months without incident prior to Vernikov’s post.
Councilwoman Vernikov praised the decision to remove the flag, reinforcing her stance against any form of support for terrorism. “It’s a slap in the face to every American, military member, and otherwise who was murdered under that flag,” she stated.
It is important to note that there has been very little coverage of this incident by the left-wing media. This same media has aggressively hunted down Trump’s Jewish supporters who condemned Islamic terrorist groups, often doxing these individuals and their family members. Yet, they have gone to great lengths to avoid reporting on this family and to protect their privacy.
While protecting the privacy of individuals is crucial, the left-wing media’s selective courtesy towards a Muslim family openly supporting Islamic terrorists while launching full-blown attacks on conservatives reporting on these issues raises significant questions about bias and the selective protection of privacy based on political and ideological lines.
The way to fix this is to send them back to live with the Taliban whom they support, and the rest can go and live with the Palestinians.
