Barcelona (Spain): Dutch Tourist Stabbed by Gang of Young Migrants in Beach Robbery Attempt

A Dutch tourist was stabbed this morning at around 5:30 AM on Somorrostro Beach, located on the Front Marítim of Barcelona, Catalonia. The tourist, approximately 30 years old, was attacked while trying to prevent the theft of his €700 Philipp Plein watch. The incident took place in a popular party and leisure area when a gang of young migrants, mainly North Africans and none of them Spanish, attempted to rob him.

The migrants, including several minors, surrounded the tourist and tried to violently steal his watch. The tourist resisted, leading to a struggle. During the altercation, one of the thieves pulled out a knife and seriously injured the tourist.

Police and Security Response:

Thanks to the swift action of security guards and the Emergency and Proximity Reinforcement Unit (UREP) of the Guàrdia Urbana de Barcelona, the injured tourist received immediate medical attention from paramedics of the Sistema d’Emergències Mèdiques (SEM). The police managed to arrest two of the attackers, both minors and foreigners, while others involved were identified and charged. The stolen watch was recovered. The tourist was taken to Hospital del Mar with serious injuries, but his life is not in danger.
