Mother of Oct 7 Victim Calls for Global Stand Against Jew Hatred: 'My Son Died a Hero Fighting Hamas Terror' (Video)

In a powerful speech delivered at a rally in Ottawa, Raquel Ohnona, the mother of Alexandre Look, one of the victims of the October 7 Hamas Islamic massacre, shared her heartfelt and emotional tribute to her son, Alex, and the heroism he displayed during his final moments.

“Hello, Ottawa. It’s actually very overwhelming to see all of you here. Thank you, ladies and gentlemen. Today, we gather to remember my son, Alex, who was one of the more than 1,200 victims of the horrible Hamas terrorist massacre,” she began, her voice unwavering despite the gravity of the moment. “My son showed remarkable heroism in his last moments. Throughout his life, Alex was the embodiment of strength and courage.”

Alexandre Look, a 33-year-old Canadian citizen, was attending the Nova musical festival in Israel’s Negev desert, a festival celebrating peace and love when the Hamas attack began. Raquel detailed the horrifying events of that day, recalling how Alex and his friends initially sought refuge in a bomb shelter near the festival site. “Inklings of this being an attack of a different magnitude became clearer,” she recounted, describing how Alex stood guard at the entrance, protecting those inside. “Survivors said he did what he said he would do and remained the first in line of danger.”

Raquel’s words painted a picture of a man defined by bravery and selflessness. “He fought the first attacker with no fear in his eyes, even disarming one before being murdered in cold blood, using his body as a shield to save others,” she said, her voice breaking but determined. “Alex did take most of the bullets and grenades… miraculously, eight people from his shelter survived due to his act of bravery.”

The legacy of Alexandre Look has transcended his tragic death. His mother spoke about the tributes that have honored his life, from a green space in his hometown of Côte Saint-Luc, Montreal, to four shelters rebuilt in Israel. “These are some of the ways we transform this tragedy into a positive force, as Alex was for so many.”

Raquel’s speech wasn’t just a tribute to her son but a call to action. “The rise of antisemitism in Canada and globally cannot continue. An awareness must be brought to the threats increasingly felt by us, the Jewish people. We are facing uncertain times in the West, and it is more important than ever to stand firm.” She emphasized the importance of standing against terror, antisemitism, and violence, concluding with a message of unity and strength.
