Amsterdam, Netherlands — Dutch MP Geert Wilders has condemned the recent Islamic attacks targeting Jewish residents in Amsterdam, asserting that the incidents mark a disturbing rise in antisemitic aggression on the streets of the Dutch capital. During a parliamentary debate on Wednesday, Wilders called for immediate legal action, including deportation of those convicted of participating in the attacks if they hold dual nationality, following a series of incidents before and after last week’s soccer match between Ajax Amsterdam and Maccabi Tel Aviv.
The attacks, according to reports, saw groups of individuals wearing black hooded clothing and Palestinian flags as they moved through the city on foot, scooters, and cars. Organized and allegedly aided by taxi drivers, they reportedly sought out Jewish residents, harassing and physically assaulting them.
In an impassioned address, Wilders drew parallels between these incidents and historical atrocities, noting the attack’s timing on the anniversary of Kristallnacht, violent coordinated antisemitic attacks in Nazi Germany and Austria. “On the same day that Kristallnacht was commemorated, we saw Muslims on the streets of Amsterdam hunting down Jews,” Wilders declared in parliament, calling the actions a “pogrom of the worst kind.”
According to Wilders, the attackers shouted Arabic and Palestinian slogans, reportedly forcing individuals to show identification to confirm they were not Jewish. Videos from the night showed instances of individuals being attacked, including being thrown into canals, with Wilders describing the attacks as “a miracle there were no fatalities in this razzia.”
Wilders’ frustration extended to Dutch law enforcement, questioning why no arrests were made during or immediately following the incidents. “How is it possible that after the football match, on that evening and night, none of these so-called Islamic ‘Jew-hunters’ were arrested? Not a single arrest was made that night,” he asserted. “Our rule of law is in shreds and will remain that way as long as these terrorists go unpunished.”

Criticizing what he views as a lax approach to anti-Semitic hate crimes in the Netherlands, Wilders urged the government to take a tougher stance. “This jihad on the streets of beautiful old Mokum [Amsterdam] last week made it look more like ISIS territory,” he said, calling for immediate measures to restore the public’s sense of safety.
The attacks have sparked broader concerns across the Netherlands about escalating tensions due to Muslims, mainly migrants, and the need for proactive policies to protect vulnerable communities. In Wilders’ view, the solution begins with stricter enforcement, deportations, and swift legal consequences for those who participate in attacks on Jews and Dutch citizens.
