Held in Paris, the event brought together some of the continent’s most influential leaders, united by a shared mission to protect national sovereignty, uphold traditional values, and push back against globalist policies. This major gathering featured a powerful speech by Dutch Party for Freedom (PVV) leader Geert Wilders and the historic appointment of Santiago Abascal, leader of Spain’s Vox party, as chairman of Patriots for Europe.
Wilders’ Call to Action
Geert Wilders delivered a fiery speech that cut straight to the heart of why the nationalist cause matters now more than ever. In his address, Wilders celebrated recent victories, including his party’s rise to government in the Netherlands, and laid out a clear plan to defend Europe’s culture and identity.
Defending National Borders
Wilders highlighted the Dutch government’s bold new immigration policies, set to take effect on December 9, which put border security and national sovereignty front and center:
- Border Controls: Reinstating checks under Article 25 of the Schengen Border Code to safeguard Dutch sovereignty.
- Strict Asylum Measures: Deportation of asylum seekers with prior applications in other EU nations and mandatory detention for undocumented migrants.
- Zero Tolerance for Fraud: Policies requiring asylum seekers to prove their claims and imposing harsher consequences for those who discard their identification.
“These measures,” Wilders declared, “are about putting our nation first, ensuring safety, and stopping the cultural erosion caused by unchecked immigration.”
Ending Leftist Privileges
Wilders also announced an end to policies that prioritize migrants over Dutch citizens, including the elimination of preferential housing for asylum seekers—a move addressing the Netherlands’ housing shortage, where 400,000 homes are currently needed for Dutch residents. The government will now require migrants seeking family reunification to meet stricter conditions, including having stable housing, a sufficient income, and being a legal resident for at least two years. Additionally, only married partners will qualify for reunification, and children over the age of 18 will no longer be allowed to join their families.
By instituting tougher language and integration requirements, reducing access to free legal aid, and rejecting asylum applications for those who fail to attend their hearings, the Dutch government is setting a new standard for Europe, focusing on accountability and self-reliance.
Fighting Antisemitism
Wilders condemned recent antisemitic violence in Amsterdam, describing it as “a Jew hunt” carried out largely by Moroccan migrants. (See here and here) He reaffirmed his government’s commitment to combating hate crimes and revoking the Dutch citizenship of dual nationals convicted of anti-Semitic or terrorist acts.
“Our culture is under siege,” Wilders proclaimed. “We will not tolerate intolerance.” He reminded attendees of the consequences of ignoring these issues, invoking the memory of the 20th-century atrocities Europe vowed never to repeat.
A Broader Vision for Europe
Wilders concluded with a rallying cry to his fellow nationalists, invoking the leadership of Viktor Orbán and Donald Trump as inspirations for the movement’s future.
“We are winning,” he declared. “In Europe and America, we are reclaiming our nations. There is no alternative to victory.” He also acknowledged the challenges of governance, noting the fragile nature of coalitions and the persistence required to deliver meaningful reforms.
A Growing Conservative Momentum
The rise of leaders like Wilders and Abascal underscores a broader shift in Europe’s political climate. From Marine Le Pen in France to Poland’s Law and Justice Party, nationalist movements are challenging the status quo and presenting a vision of governance that prioritizes tradition, sovereignty, and security.
