Who in Trump’s Team Invited a Hezbollah-Supporting, Antisemitic Imam Who Advocates Jihad Against America to the Inauguration

The shocking decision to invite Imam Husham al-Husainy to deliver a benediction at Trump’s inauguration exposes a dangerous failure in vetting and raises alarming questions about the administration’s commitment to combating radical ideologies, such as Islam, that pose a grave threat to the nation’s security and values.

The announcement of Husham al-Husainy, imam of the Karbalaa Islamic Educational Center in Dearborn, Michigan, as one of four religious leaders delivering a benediction at President Donald Trump’s second inauguration on January 20 has ignited a firestorm of outrage. This controversial decision has shocked many and raised pressing questions about the Trump administration’s failure to vet or comprehend the terror ties of this polarizing figure. Al-Husainy’s past is not merely a matter of inflammatory rhetoric—it is a case study in open support for Islamic terrorism, virulent antisemitism, and the promotion of radical ideologies, such as Islam, which are incompatible with Western values.

The Radical Background of Al-Husainy

Al-Husainy’s selection has drawn sharp rebukes due to his documented history of antisemitism, ties to Islamic terror organizations, and incendiary Islamic rhetoric. Journalists and commentators have pointed out that al-Husainy is not just any imam; he is a polarizing radical figure whose past actions and statements align with Islamic terrorists and run counter to American values.

A Troubling History of Terror Support

Imam Husham al-Husainy is no stranger to controversy. He has a well-documented record of supporting groups like Hezbollah and the Houthi rebels, both of which are designated terrorist organizations. During rallies in Dearborn, Michigan, he openly displayed his support for Hezbollah, at one point holding aloft a picture of the group’s leader, Hassan Nasrallah, according to a Middle East Forum report.

Al-Husainy has consistently refused to denounce Hezbollah, including during a contentious appearance on Hannity & Colmes in 2007. During the interview, Sean Hannity posed three direct questions to al-Husainy: whether he believed Hezbollah was a terrorist organization, whether Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was an antisemite for denying the Holocaust, and his general stance on terrorism. Rather than providing clear answers, al-Husainy deflected, accusing Hannity of humiliating him and provoking hostility between faiths. He claimed that Hannity’s questions were making “God mad at you, Jesus mad at you, and the Prophet Muhammad mad at you.”

Despite repeated attempts by Hannity to elicit a straightforward response, al-Husainy continued to evade, calling for unity and respect but failing to address the questions directly. Hannity ultimately summarized the exchange by highlighting al-Husainy’s refusal to denounce terrorism or answer the concerns raised about Hezbollah and Ahmadinejad.

But most importantly, Sean Hannity pointed out that the Democrat who invited Imam Husham Al-Husainy to the Democratic National Convention should be held accountable and explain their decision.

Support of Violent Jihad Abroad and in America

As Daniel Greenfield reports, “Imam Husham al-Husainy had signed a Jihad letter urging ‘our sons to get ready to carry out their duty in Holy Jihad and continue the path which our young valiant men in Hezbollah began in Southern Lebanon’ and not just there, but also in America.”

Incendiary Statements: Antisemitic and anti-Christian Rhetoric

In another inflammatory statement, al-Husainy referred to Saudi Arabia as “agents of the Jews” and called for the execution of the Saudi royal family, accusing them of carrying out Zionist policies. Videos uncovered by the Clarion Project reveal him blaming “Israeli airplanes” for bombing Yemen and urging Muslims to unite against oppressive “Saudi-Zionist” actions.

Antisemitic rhetoric has been a consistent feature of al-Husainy’s public statements. At a rally hosted by his center in 2015, he wished death upon Saudi Arabia, accusing the nation of being “agents of the Jews” and linking Saudi and Israeli policies in a manner designed to stoke hatred and division.

In a particularly ominous debate with a Christian pastor, al-Husainy predicted an attack against Israel and claimed Muslims would soon seize control of Jerusalem.

In another clip, Imam Husham al-Husainy appears to warn Christians away from believing in Jesus (Isa in Arabic), stating, “Stay away from this infidelity” and urging them to become slaves to Allah.

Social Media Propaganda

Social media posts from al-Husainy’s accounts further compound concerns. In one Facebook post, he appears to laud Hezbollah as part of the “axis of resistance.” Other posts glorify slain Iranian General Qassem Soleimani, a known sponsor of terrorism, as a martyr.

Al-Husainy’s page also endorsed pro-Iran and anti-Trump protests, reflecting his alignment with Iranian and anti-Western sentiments.

Furthermore, Imam Husham al-Husainy served as the public face of the Detroit Free Press’ vocal campaign against President Trump’s essential travel ban—a measure designed to safeguard national security and curb the influx of potential threats into the United States.

Jihadist Rallies in Dearborn

Al-Husainy has not only engaged in inflammatory rhetoric but also led massive, openly jihadist rallies in Dearborn, Michigan. Tens of thousands of Muslims marched under his direction, chanting slogans and displaying symbols glorifying Hamas, Hezbollah, and other terror organizations. These rallies featured chilling calls for the destruction of Israel, with participants echoing al-Husainy’s radical ideology. Far from promoting unity, these events served as brazen showcases of radicalism, raising significant concerns about their impact on local and national security. The sheer scale of these demonstrations underlines the alarming influence of figures like al-Husainy within American communities.

Promotion of Sharia and Blasphemy Laws

Al-Husainy has long advocated for the imposition of Sharia in the United States, including a ban on Koran burning. Following a fabricated “Islamophobic” hate crime, he worked to draft legislation that would criminalize such acts, effectively restricting free speech and imposing elements of Sharia blasphemy laws. This stance reflects practices commonly enforced in authoritarian regimes like Iran and Iraq rather than aligning with the constitutional freedoms Americans cherish.

Al-Husainy and American Politics

This is not al-Husainy’s first foray into high-profile political events. He previously delivered a prayer at a Democratic National Committee (DNC) event where he harshly criticized the United States. His involvement in both Democratic and Republican platforms raises questions about vetting processes and the standards for selecting religious leaders at national ceremonies.

Implications for Trump’s Administration

This decision is a betrayal of the values President Trump claimed to uphold—a stance against Islam and a promise to prioritize American security. By elevating an imam with ties to terrorism, antisemitism, and anti-American rhetoric, the administration has handed a propaganda victory to those who seek to undermine Western civilization. Al-Husainy’s presence at the inauguration is not just a misstep; it’s a dangerous signal that the United States may tolerate, or even legitimize, the very ideologies that threaten its foundations.

What does this choice say about America’s commitment to rooting out extremism? If figures like al-Husainy are given platforms of such magnitude, where does the line get drawn? This moment demands accountability—not just from those who approved his selection but from every leader willing to look the other way. History will not forget this affront to the principles of freedom and security, nor should the American people.

  • Geez, I’ll say it. This is DISGUSTING. We should be kicking these things out of our country, not giving them a platform to spew their hatred. Will we end up like Europe?

  • Islam is a MUSLIM TERRORIST ORGANIZATION. Specifically, Islam is a Muslim Terrorist Ideology and Criminal Organization of discrimination, segregation, supremacy, genocide, polygamy, deceit, hatred, incitement, sedition, rape, terrorism, and violence against all Non-Muslims as taught in the Quran.

Non-Muslims CANNOT have peace with Islam and its Muslims because Islam and its murderous god, Allah, demand a continuous, Muslim war against unbelievers since Non-Muslims are CRIMINALS under Islam where Allah in Qur’an 8:39 says, “And engage in war with them[Non-Muslims] until there will not be sedition and the religion will be completely to Allah…” HENCE, NON-MUSLIMS MUST MAKE ISLAM, ITS MOSQUES, ITS SCHOOLS, ITS ORGANIZATIONS, ETC. ILLEGAL UNDER THE LAW. Similarly, Islam and its many Organizations must be identified and declared as a MUSLIM TERRORIST ORGANIZATION for their funding, teaching, and support of terrorism, violence, and discrimination against Non-Muslims.re

Allah in Islam demands SURRENDER which means ‘to Surrender, whether voluntarily or not, by becoming a Muslim’ while Submission, ‘to Submit’, is a voluntary act to follow the authority or control of another. Allah in Quran 49:14 says, “’The Bedouins said, ‘We believed.’ Say,’You did not believe. But say, ‘We surrender (became Muslim as a result of fear).’ And the faith has not entered your hearts. And if you obey Allah and his messenger, he will not decrease anything from your works. Surely Allah is forgiving, merciful.’”

Islam promotes a terroristic war against unbelievers when Allah in Qur’an 49:15 says, “Surely the believers are only those who believed in Allah and his messenger. They do not doubt, and they performed JIHAD with THEIR MONEY AND THEIR LIVES for the sake of Allah. Those are the truthful.”

Allah promises Heavenly Paradise for acts of killing when Quran 9:111 says, “Surely Allah has purchased from the believers[Muslims] their souls and their money so that they may have the garden[Heavenly Paradise]. They engage in war for the sake of Allah, so they kill and are killed…”

Islam champions Muslim acts of slaughter against Non-Muslims for not becoming Muslims as Allah in Qur’an 8:12 says, “When your lord revealed to the angels: ‘I am with you so make firm those who believed[Muslims]. I will cast a terror into the hearts of those who became infidels[Non-Muslims]. So strike above their necks(decapitation), and strike off(chop off) every finger from them.’”
