RAIR Foundation USA was on the ground in Ottawa, Canada, to cover a hastily arranged protest that unfolded amidst a sizable gathering of Hamas supporters at Ottawa’s City Hall. Against the backdrop of Canada’s capital city, Ottawa, a profound moment materialized as an estimated one to two thousand advocates for the State of Israel, some of whom had personal connections to individuals impacted by recent kidnappings and tragedies, came together for a march up Elgin Street. Their ultimate destination was Parliament Hill, where impassioned speeches were delivered.
During the initial phase of the demonstration, a poignant contrast emerged. Supporters of Israel crossed paths with individuals who had participated in prior Hamas demonstrations in the area, all converging on the parking lot adjacent to City Hall.
See a few of the many signs at the demonstration:
After an initial gathering with spirited chants, traditional Israeli dances, and songs, the group marched from City Hall up Laurier Street, along Elgin Street, and proceeded to Parliament Hill on Wellington Street.
Upon reaching the Hill, several speakers addressed the crowd, including Liberal MP Anthony Housefather, who seconded the controversial non-binding motion M-103, aiming to establish special rights for Muslims and Islam by limiting speech critical of the religion. Conservative MP Michael Barrett followed, speaking to an appreciative audience.
The afternoon concluded with the singing of ‘Hatikva,’ the Israeli National Anthem.”
I thought I was watching a South Park episode? People should really do the mathematics on the seal of solomon flag too. (Hint 666). Waving flags and chanting is stage 1. Next comes the terrorism. Easy for me not to take sides. Both sides come to the table dirty.
