On Saturday, October 28, in a powerful display of unity and support, Ottawa’s Jewish community and their backers gathered for a solemn vigil on Parliament Hill. RAIR Foundation USA was present to capture the event, as participants stood in unwavering solidarity with over 200 Israelis held hostage by Hamas following the unprecedented October 7 Islamic attack.”
The event was marked by heartfelt prayers, moving songs, and a Havdalah ceremony, where candles were kindled to signify the end of the Sabbath.
More than a thousand people gathered to hear the names of those still in captivity under Hamas read aloud by the children of the community.
Meanwhile, nearby, supporters of Hamas paraded through the Byward Market area of Ottawa with large Palestinian flags, underscoring the challenges faced by Jews in Canada and across the West.
