A viral video circulating on X captures the moment when Lily Tang Williams, a Chinese immigrant, gun owner, and communist survivor, challenged left-wing activist David Hogg during an open mic session. Williams, also a Congressional Candidate for the 2024 elections in NH District 2, seized the opportunity to advocate for America’s Second Amendment rights and educate the gun-control activist.
In the video shared on social media by Turning Point CEO and Founder Charlie Kirk, Williams introduces herself, emphasizing her background as a survivor of communism and extending a warm welcome to Hogg in the “Live Free or Die” state of New Hampshire.
Drawing on her firsthand experiences, Williams points to the atrocities of Mao Zedong’s regime, highlighting the dangers of unchecked government power. Mao, who led the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) from 1935 until his death in 1976, was responsible for well over 70 million deaths in peacetime, more than any other twentieth-century leader. He also presided over the ‘Great Proletarian Cultural Revolution,’ which aimed to purge all culture and history of the nation to affirm allegiance to Mao.
I am Lily Tang Williams. I was born in China to illiterate working-class parents, suffered under Mao’s Cultural Revolution and Communist dictatorship. I wanted freedom. America was my promised land.

I was 23 when I fled tyranny. Arriving with $100 in my pocket and knowing very… pic.twitter.com/cIoTlMOMxx
On October 1, 1949, Mao declared the creation of the People’s Republic of China (PRC) and immediately confiscated all firearms from the populace. This policy had its origins in 1935 when Mao initiated the disarmament process in rural provinces under his control. Individuals found in possession of firearms after confiscation were subject to execution.
“All political power emanates from the muzzle of a gun. The Communist Party must control all firearms; in doing so, no weapon can be wielded against the party,” said Mao.
Having lived in a Communist-controlled country, Williams pressed Hogg on whether he could guarantee that the U.S. government would never succumb to the same type of tyranny that occurred in gun-free China. Hogg concedes he cannot.
In response, Williams firmly declares her refusal to surrender her firearms, asserting that the debate on gun control ends there. She suggests that Hogg visit China to witness the consequences of strict gun control under the dictatorship of the CCP.
Kirk, in his social media caption accompanying the video, characterizes the encounter as Williams “torching” the gun control activist. He suggests that moments like these reveal the vulnerabilities in liberal arguments when subjected to scrutiny on an open mic platform.
Well, Hogg is a marxist sodomite. There were prom pictures, and his date was another sodomite. 🤮
He also is probably working for deep state 🐔🍭. He props up their anti-2nd Ammendment BS as their spokesfa66ot.
If she lived through Mao, and escaped she is lucky. The red brigades were making soup out of dissenters, and eating them—as in cannibalism.
If our government becomes a tyrannical/despotic government.
We are already there. Until people have lost everything, don’t expect much revolt. Once everything is lost, then people will revolt. It won’t be pretty. I pray Trump can beat the cheat, and America can operate properly. What we have now is an abomination. The old saying, Hard times build strong men, and good times build weak men. Probably true. Nobody out in my area wants work. Welfare check pays for their booze, meth, and other bills. When they get close to broke, then they decide to work(half-assed) and they all are scammers. Never seen so many bums and scumbags.
