This week, a massive crowd gathered in the Czech capital, Prague, to demonstrate against, among other things, the country’s government, which has failed to deal with the rampant food and energy costs. They also want to see the sanctions against Russia removed. In addition, protesters are tired of its government’s support for Ukraine, especially to the detriment of its people.
The organizers oppose Czech membership in the European Union, NATO, and other globalist international organizations, such as the United Nations and the World Health Organization.
We want to turn the political direction in our country by 180 degrees. We want to achieve this change in a non-violent way, said organizer Jiří Havel.
According to another organizer, Ladislav Vrábel, the government should resign, new elections should occur, and “pro-national experts” should take over the country’s leadership. One of Vrábel’s demands is a referendum on the direct purchase of cheap gas from Russia.
Earlier this year, the Czech Republic warned that expressing support for the Russian attack on Ukraine could result in a jail sentence of up to three years.
Support for Trump
The demonstrators carried flags and banners and chanted slogans such as “abandonment,” “shame,” “thieves,” and “resign, resign.” Crowds demanded their government starts putting “The Czech Republic first.” Protesters referenced former U.S. President Donald Trump’s nationalist platform, which he called “America first.”
Many event speakers criticized the government’s approach to capping energy prices. It is feared that there will be a shortage of gas and food, and it also protested against a lack of freedom, censorship, and totalitarianism. The speakers also opposed the war and the supply of arms to Ukraine.
The event was attended by representatives from Germany’s conservative political party, Alternative für Deutschland.
