The Algerian migrant, who is a naturalized Irish citizen and has been in the state for 20 years, attacked a group of young children, causing severe injuries to a girl and a woman in her 30s. Promptly rushed to the hospital, the victims’ immediate medical attention only intensified the shock and horror of the situation. Among the victims, a five-year-old girl is currently undergoing emergency treatment at Temple Street Hospital, grappling with critical injuries sustained during the stabbing. Additionally, a boy, aged five, and a six-year-old girl suffered less serious injuries and were taken to CHI Crumlin for treatment. Shockingly, it has been revealed that the woman in her 30s, being treated for serious injuries at the Mater Hospital, was an employee of the school or afterschool care facility attended by the children.

The attacker has also been taken for treatment for serious injuries. Passers-by, displaying immense bravery, intervened on the street shortly after the stabbing attack. They successfully subdued the suspect, disarmed him of the knife, and threw it across the road into a grassy area near the Garden of Remembrance.
