The EU’s Coup Against Democracy: Thierry Breton Threatens to Invalidate German Elections (Video)

The EU’s threat to invalidate Germany’s elections, particularly targeting the Alternative for Germany (AfD), exposes Brussels’ transformation into an authoritarian force determined to suppress political dissent, override national sovereignty, and impose its globalist agenda across Europe.

Former EU Commissioner Thierry Breton ignited a storm of controversy with chilling remarks on RMC Thursday, openly suggesting that the EU could invalidate Germany’s elections if they do not align with Brussels’ expectations. “We did it in Romania, and of course, we will have to do it in Germany if necessary,” Breton declared.

His comments confirm what critics have long warned: the EU has abandoned any pretense of being a guardian of democracy and is rapidly transforming into an authoritarian force, determined to subvert national sovereignty and impose its globalist agenda. This threat appears aimed squarely at ensuring Germany’s only major conservative party, the Alternative for Germany (AfD), does not gain power, exposing the EU’s intolerance for political dissent.

The backlash was swift and vocal. Critics across Europe condemned Breton’s remarks, seeing them as a dangerous precedent in the EU’s approach to member states’ sovereignty. Observers noted that Breton’s comments revealed an alarming willingness to override the will of voters if outcomes do not align with EU preferences.

Many linked these actions to the EU’s broader push to control narratives, highlighting efforts to censor platforms like X in Europe to prevent dissent and scrutiny. The underlying motive, critics argue, is to silence opposition and maintain control, but such efforts may ultimately backfire as the truth surfaces despite their attempts to suppress it.

“They Don’t Even Hide It Anymore”

This brazen admission exposes the EU’s true nature—a central power that views democratic outcomes as disposable if they challenge Brussels’ authority. What once might have been concealed is now done openly, with little fear of reprisal.”

Former Belgian parliamentarian Dries Van Langenhove echoed these sentiments, accusing the EU of emboldened autocracy. “They did it in Romania and got away with it easily, so now they are doing it all over Europe. They are not even hiding it anymore,” he said.

Adding to the chorus of criticism, former MEP Rob Roos offered a scathing remark on EU governance: “This is what they call ‘democracy’ and ‘rule of law’ in the EU.”

Frexit or Dictatorship?

The outrage extended beyond politicians and commentators. Writing on X, French journalist Myriam Palomba denounced the EU’s actions as the death of democracy: “So there are no more free elections in this miserable European Union! RIP democracy. Frexit or dictatorship, the choice is ours! And fast!”

French-American actress Beatrice Rosen also expressed disbelief, asking, “Thierry Breton is threatening to cancel the German elections if people don’t vote the way they want?”

The controversy has also stirred furious protests in Romania, where Breton’s comments about election annulment hit particularly close to home. Breton’s assertion—“We did it in Romania, and obviously we will do it in Germany”—reopened wounds from the EU’s annulment of Romania’s elections, which had already left the country reeling.

Romania’s Election: A Precedent of Controversy

The European Commission’s decision to annul Romania’s presidential election sparked anger throughout the country and further eroded public trust in the EU and national institutions. Officially, the Commission claimed Russian interference favored the frontrunner, Calin Georgescu, but evidence for these allegations remains absent. The annulment heightened political polarization and bolstered support for alternative parties, with so-called “hard-right” groups securing over a third of parliamentary seats in the subsequent vote.

Critics fear that a similar playbook may now be used in Germany, raising alarms about the EU’s growing willingness to override democratic processes in member states.

The annulment of Romania’s presidential election should serve as a dire warning to every nation in the EU. No election is safe if Brussels can invalidate an election on vague, unproven allegations of foreign interference. This is not about protecting democracy but about enforcing compliance with the EU’s ideological and political objectives.

A Critical Moment for Europe

Breton’s remarks, coupled with the EU’s recent actions in Romania, have left many questioning the future of democracy within the bloc. The EU’s actions signal a shift towards greater control over member states, with elections only upheld if the results align with Brussels’ agenda. For critics, the choice is clear: either fight back against EU overreach or risk watching democracy crumble under its weight.

The question now is whether Europe’s voters—and its leaders—will stand up to the EU’s expanding powers or allow this trend to continue unchecked. For many, the stakes couldn’t be higher.

For European citizens, the choice has never been clearer: oppose this creeping authoritarianism and demand the return of sovereignty to individual nations, or watch as Brussels consolidates its power, silencing dissent and dismantling the foundations of democracy.
