French politician Éric Zemmour addressed the National Conservatism Conference in Brussels on April 17, 2024, emphasizing the urgent need to challenge the European Union’s migration pact, combat the Islamization of Europe, and resist judicial overreach and “wokeism.” Criticizing EU migration policies, Zemmour outlined the threats these issues pose to European cultural identity and freedoms. His speech set the stage for a call to action to safeguard European heritage and values against these pressing challenges.
The contentious migration resolution grants the EU additional power to enforce mass migration within the continent. Under certain scenarios, EU states will be compelled to accept more migrants, while also expediting the transition of migrants with temporary protection status to long-term resident status. He condemned the measures pushed by the European Parliament, which many argue would “import millions of migrants” against the wishes of the majority on the continent.
Zemmour, leader and founder of the Reconquête party and candidate in the 2022 presidential election, emphasized Europe’s rich history and its ability to bounce back from various challenges. He depicted Europe as “a continent that has traversed a profound and protracted history, marked by dramatic events such as wars, natural calamities, epidemics, and crises, yet it unfailingly reemerges, albeit at times sluggishly, but always with valor and ingenuity.”
“In just a few centuries, Europe has invented the monastery, Gothic style, Gregorian chant, the bill of exchange, feudalism, the cannon, printing, symphonic music, the compass, the steam engine, electricity, the combustion engine, the train, cinema, the airplane, and the list goes on,” Zemmour proudly stated, emphasizing the continent’s role as a cradle of innovation and resilience.
Zemmour identified three major threats to Europe, starting with the Islamization of the continent. “The weakening of the Christian religion by left-wing militancy in the 20th century opened the way for an Islam that claims to fill our spiritual void and that very clearly intends to dominate the entire European continent, and it is succeeding,” stressed Zemmour. He emphasized that “European countries are increasingly morphing into jihad zones where violence, the subjugation of women, and the prohibition of criticism of the Qur’an and Mohammed are rampant.”
“Look at London,” said Zemmour, “where I was recently with some of you, look at the French suburbs, where the great replacement is verified every day.” He continued, “Only ideologues and the naive still dare to deny the reality of this situation.”
The second enemy that surrounds us, warned Zemmour, “is the European bureaucracy and what he termed the ‘tyranny of the judges.’” He depicted it as a monstrous entity continuously expanding and churning out an increasing number of laws, regulations, restrictions, surveillance, and censorship. He argued that this transformation is rapidly depriving Europeans of their freedoms.
The third enemy wants to annihilate our culture, our identity, and our history, he warned, is the phenomenon of “wokeism.” He portrayed it as “an ideology rooted in the detestation of our triumphs, our illustrious history, our luminaries, and our creativity.” He stressed that this ideology seeks to obliterate European culture, identity, and history.
Throughout his speech, Zemmour stressed the urgent need to protect European civilization and called for political action and unity, declaring, “Only a liberated populace can build a strong nation, and only liberated peoples can create a powerful European Union.” Zemmour also used his platform to advocate for political change, specifically endorsing Marion Maréchal (see here, here, here) the lead candidate for his Reconquête party in the upcoming European elections.
He highlighted the critical nature of these elections, positioning them as a decisive opportunity to redirect the European Union’s current left-wing trajectory under globalist Ursula von der Leyen’s leadership towards policies that safeguard European civilization.
“We must defend our civilization as if our lives depend on it, because, indeed, our lives depend on it,” asserted Zemmour. “It is up to all of us, to save the destiny of the most beautiful civilization of all time. Only a free people can make a great nation. Only a free peoples can make a great European Union.”
Zemmour’s speech at the conference was not just a critique but a call for the preservation of a civilization under siege. His vivid depiction of Europe’s historic contributions and current challenges aims to rally support for a continent-wide resurgence of traditional values and assertive, European first policy measures.
WooHoo! That was fantastic! He nailed it like a carpenter.
