Two teenagers (15 and 16) are said to have called for a “Holy War” against the West in a Telegram video and announced a terrorist attack in Cologne. The intelligence agency identified and subsequently arrested them.
In a video published on Telegram, two young Muslim teenagers are reported to have called for a “Holy War” against the West and simultaneously announced a terrorist attack in Germany on December 1. According to a “WDR” report, the intelligence agency has identified the two. They are reportedly a Muslim German-Afghan (15) from Burscheid near Leverkusen and a Muslim Russian migrant (16) from Wittstock in the northwest of Brandenburg.
The teenagers are said to have arranged to discuss an Islamic attack. Allegedly, they planned to use incendiary devices or a small truck to attack a Christmas market or a synagogue in Cologne. It is believed that they also discussed a specific time for their plans.
Investigations are ongoing
Searches have now been carried out in North Rhine-Westphalia and Brandenburg. Consequently, the teenagers were arrested. The Public Prosecutor’s Office in Düsseldorf and the Public Prosecutor’s Office in Neuruppin are investigating the suspicion of planning an Islamic terrorist act.
Both Muslim teenagers are considered sympathizers of the “Islamic State” (IS). The older one is classified by security authorities in Brandenburg as a “relevant person” in the Islamic scene and is said to have been noticed in the past for spreading jihadist propaganda.
