What should have been a routine beard trim turned into a vicious attack as Ahmed al Jabali, a radicalized Muslim, launched a brutal assault on a Jewish barber in Yonkers, New York. In a chilling display of Islamic jihad, al Jabali stabbed the barber, Slava Shushakova, with his own scissors, all while shouting that he had a “right” as a Muslim to kill Jews. This is no isolated incident; it is part of a broader and far more dangerous pattern of violence against Jews and non-Muslims, all justified in the name of Islam.
Shushakova, originally from Uzbekistan, recounted how al Jabali’s fury was ignited by the ongoing Gaza conflict. What started as a simple trim rapidly escalated into an Islamic hate-fueled tirade, with al Jabali declaring his right to punish Jews as part of his religious duty. Fueled by Islamic hatred—and likely alcohol—he grabbed scissors from the counter and attacked, shouting, “I want to kill you, you f—ing Jew!” He further threatened to burn down the Yonkers Avenue barbershop, according to Shushakova.
Shushakova expressed his belief that his mezuzah played a role in protecting him from more severe harm. The mezuzah had been installed two years ago by Rabbi Mendy Hurwitz, a local shliach, when they posed for a photo together for The Jewish Link. Reflecting on the incident, Slava expressed gratitude for the mezuzah’s protection and relief that his injuries weren’t more serious.
This wasn’t just some drunken rant; it was a targeted attempt at murder. Al Jabali’s barbaric act, driven by his belief in Islamic superiority, is a reminder that Jews—and all non-Muslims—are not safe as long as Islam is allowed to fester unchecked in Western societies.
While the mainstream media is actively downplaying this Islamic attack, it must be made clear that this was an act of jihad on American soil. Al Jabali’s “radicalization” mirrors a disturbing trend sweeping across the world. Religious Muslims are becoming emboldened as their numbers continue to increase. As Islamic expert Robert Spencer has pointed out, the Qur’an portrays Jews as eternal enemies of Muslims, citing their alleged enmity and supposed wickedness,
the Qur’an depicts the Jews as inveterately evil and bent on destroying the well-being of the Muslims. The Jews in the Qur’an are called the strongest of all people in enmity toward the Muslims (5:82); they fabricate things and falsely ascribe them to Allah (2:79; 3:75, 3:181); they claim that Allah’s power is limited (5:64); they love to listen to lies (5:41); they disobey Allah and never observe his commands (5:13). They are disputing and quarreling (2:247); hiding the truth and misleading people (3:78); staging rebellion against the prophets and rejecting their guidance (2:55); being hypocritical (2:14, 2:44); giving preference to their own interests over the teachings of Muhammad (2:87); wishing evil for people and trying to mislead them (2:109); feeling pain when others are happy or fortunate (3:120); being arrogant about their being Allah’s beloved people (5:18); devouring people’s wealth by subterfuge (4:161); slandering the true religion and being cursed by Allah (4:46); killing the prophets (2:61); being merciless and heartless (2:74); never keeping their promises or fulfilling their words (2:100); being unrestrained in committing sins (5:79); being cowardly (59:13-14); being miserly (4:53); being transformed into apes and pigs for breaking the Sabbath (2:63-65; 5:59-60; 7:166); and more. They are under Allah’s curse (9:30), and Muslims should wage war against them and subjugate them under Islamic hegemony (9:29).
Al Jabali’s actions were not those of a lone madman; they are the violent expression of an ideology that calls for the subjugation and destruction of non-Muslims.
Shushakova sustained severe injuries, requiring 30 stitches, and is unable to work for over a month. But the scars go deeper than that. This attack is another warning to the West: Islamic terrorism is no longer contained within the Middle East. It’s here, in our neighborhoods, in our cities, with Jews and non-Muslims increasingly being hunted down. From Europe to America, jihadis are making their violent intent known—and they are justified by their faith to carry out these brutal acts.
What’s more appalling is that Ahmed al Jabali was already well-known to authorities. He had been arrested multiple times, including for threatening his own mother. Yet, despite his violent tendencies and clear threat to society, he was still allowed to roam free, ultimately leading to this brutal attack. How many more radicalized individuals like al Jabali are lurking in our cities, waiting for their moment to strike? Authorities may be turning a blind eye to Islamic terrorism, but we can no longer afford such complacency.
Moreover, how long will it be before this attacker is released back onto the streets if he’s even incarcerated for his crimes? And how will the courts handle this clear case of Islamic terror? Will justice be served, or will this attack be downplayed like so many others?
The rise in antisemitic violence is undeniable. The NYPD reported a 58% increase in anti-Jewish incidents, with 19 incidents in August alone. However, this threat extends beyond just the Jewish community. Al Jabali’s chilling assertion that he had the right to “finish” Shushakova because he was Jewish is a reflection of a larger, more dangerous ideology. Islam not only targets Jews—it seeks the subjugation of all non-Muslims. This ideology fuels a broader hostility that endangers anyone outside of their belief system.
As Shushakova recovers from his physical wounds, the bigger question remains: when will the West wake up to the jihad happening within its own borders? How many more lives must be shattered before we take action? The enemy is already here, emboldened and unapologetic. It’s time to face the harsh reality—Islamic supremacism poses a clear and present danger to all non-Muslims in the West, and we ignore it at our peril.
He’ll be out shortly and swinging a machete the next time. We don’t learn, we really don’t. And Europe is worse than us.
