Just hours after the Israeli flag was raised on the municipal building of Sheffield in northern Britain as a gesture of solidarity, demonstrators ascended the building, removed the Israeli flag, and hoisted the Palestinian flag in its place.
Protesters scaled Sheffield Town Hall, dramatically capturing the moment when they took down the Israeli flag and raised the Palestinian flag to applause from onlookers below. Two individuals participated in the stunt, later fleeing the scene, according to the police.
Footage of the incident reveals a hooded man walking along the roof’s ridge, approximately 60 meters above the ground.
Upon reaching the mast, as shown in the video, he proceeds to take down the flag and effectively raises the Palestinian flag in its stead.
The assembled crowds erupted in celebration as the blue and white banner was lowered to the ground, with supporters of Palestine cheering for the man who subsequently descended and made a swift departure.
Sheffield is home to a substantial Islamic community, with over 10% of its residents identifying as Muslim.
