Islamized Italy: World's Largest Pasta Maker Sells Sharia-Compliant Food, Removes Pork From Famous Dish (Video)

Critics have accused Barilla of betraying Italian culinary heritage, stating that it is an act of cultural submission and inappropriate to alter the country’s traditional dishes.

Barilla, one of the world’s largest pasta makers, has recently been in the news for several controversial reasons. The company has made headlines in Italy for accommodating Islamic refugees with Halal products as the country grapples with a growing number of Muslim migrants. Barilla has also faced criticism for excluding pork from its Carbonara recipe to accommodate sharia-adherent Muslims. This move has stirred debate over the preservation of Italian culinary traditions at a time when some predict that half of Italy’s population could be Muslim by the end of the century.

In just ten years, the number of migrants in Italy has surged by 419%, according to Italian think-tank Fondazione Fare Futuro. This rapid influx of migrants, coupled with the different birthrates of Christians and Muslims, has shown that Italy’s cultural and religious landscape is dramatically shifting.

Amidst this backdrop, Barilla has taken steps to accommodate Muslim dietary restrictions. For example, the company has introduced various controversial Halal-certified products. Halal food is a brilliant political and economic strategy for Islamic terrorist groups. Furthermore, the left-wing company has worked with questionable Islamic organizations to provide food assistance to refugees.

Recently, Barilla sparked another controversy with its “Open Carbonara” film, which features a pork-free sharia-adherent version of the traditional Italian dish. The film, released to coincide with Carbonara Day, an annual celebration of the classic Italian dish held on April 6th, has drawn criticism from some who view it as disrespectful and an insult to Italian culture and traditions.

Carbonara is a beloved and iconic Italian dish made with eggs, pancetta (pork belly), pecorino cheese, and black pepper. However, the absence of pork in Barilla’s version has led some to accuse the company of “cultural appropriation” and pandering to Muslims at the expense of Italian cuisine.

According to Islamic dietary laws (Sharia), known as halal, Muslims are prohibited from consuming pork or pork-based products. Pork is considered haram (forbidden) in Islam, along with other foods and drinks considered impure or harmful to the body and soul.

Barilla’s short film follows a group of children at an Italian school. When the kids sit down for lunch, most are served carbonara, but a few with dietary restrictions receive a different dish and feel left out among their peers.

One of the girls goes home and tells her dad that she won’t eat carbonara anymore because her friend, a refugee child, can’t have it. Her father happens to be Michelin-starred chef Marco Martini, and the children’s wish inspires him to create “a much more inclusive carbonara.”

Conservatives Matteo Salvini and Italy’s Prime Minster Giorgia Meloni have criticized Barilla’s latest film, “Open Carbonara,” for its pork-free version of the traditional dish. Critics have accused the company of betraying Italian culinary heritage, stating that it is an act of cultural submission and inappropriate to alter the country’s traditional dishes.

Left-wing Barilla has stood by its “Open Carbonara” film despite the massive backlash. Barilla’s accommodation of sharia-adherent Islamic refugees and its “Open Carbonara” film is another example of how easily the left will surrender their country’s culture and traditions.

Every concession that non-Muslims make to adopt Islamic norms and laws gradually erodes the foundations of Western civilization, undermines the principles of the rule of law, and ends the fundamental notion of equality for all individuals.

  • Meh, well at least they banned the WEF insect food garbage from their country. Kudos for that. Probably should diversify the product line to increase sales. Technically, Christians are not supposed to eat pork. I do in small amounts, but it is made by a private small farm, and he is Italian. The quality is high, and so are his quality smoked cheeses. He’s old world. I won’t eat commerical pork. I quit commercial pork when I worked near a slaughterhouse, and heard the pigs screaming —about 30 years ago.

  • It’s not like this kind of cultural self-betrayal hasn’t happened before. In Quebec, famous for its maple syrup, harvested and made locally by French Canadians for hundreds of years, the cans are now all stamped “KOSHER”. The traditional process has been changed to suit the rival ethnic population.

  • Same with Subway sandwich business. We quit ordering subs from Subway because they proudly advertised that they have Halal kitchens.

  • I don’t necessarily have a problem with having a non-pork version of carbonara, as I’d probably buy it myself because I try and stay away from pork for health reasons. The attack on Italian culture is their sensationalizing the non-pork remake, as if there’s something wrong with the original dish. There is NOT. It’s Italian! Just like having gluten free items, don’t make a big deal about it. Just have it on the shelf: “We have gf pastas, vegetarian and pork-free sauces also available” is all that needs to be said (and see my “hint hint” that Barilla needs to make a gf pasta!)

  • Pork is poison to the body, so I’m fine with removing it from the food supply, but not through Halal.. their butchering method is barbaric and constitutes animal abuse, further poisoning the meat.
