Do not be deceived when Muslims claim to “Believe in Jesus.” Muslim influencers, including the controversial YouTuber Sohail (WAYOFLIFESQ) with an extensive following of nearly 1.5 million, frequently employ deceptive tactics when engaging with Christians. Their goal is to create an illusion that the Jesus portrayed in the Quran is the same as the Jesus in the Bible, albeit not the same person, while simultaneously asserting that the Quran provides a more authentic portrayal of Jesus. However, beneath this surface similarity lies a calculated divergence. The Quranic Jesus doesn’t speak the same words, nor does he engage in similar actions—his role primarily revolves around refuting Christian beliefs and affirming Muhammad’s claims about himself. Sohail, recognized for his controversial methods, goes to the extent of involving his young daughters in attempts to deceive Christians, making the portrayal of Jesus a character of convenience in their narrative.

While the Jesus of the Qur’an shares a name, beneath this surface similarity lies a calculated divergence from the biblical figure. In the Islamic narrative, Jesus becomes a mere pawn, strategically deployed to refute Christian beliefs and bolster Muhammad’s self-aggrandizing claims. Islam does not respect the Jesus of the Bible, the Christian faith, or its followers; it is hostile to all three. 

The Quran, while reluctantly acknowledging the virgin birth, specifically denies Jesus’ crucifixion and resurrection, brazenly disregarding well-established historical facts. This altered narrative insists that Jesus was taken to heaven and is prophesied to return in the future, not as a savior, but to “destroy the cross” and eradicate all religions except Islam (Ibn Kathir’s Tafsir, Vol. 3, pp. 31-32). This isn’t a subtle disagreement; it’s a direct assault on the cornerstone of Christianity.

Contrast the New Testament’s teachings of love and compassion with the Quran’s portrayal of Jesus lacking depth and wisdom, presented in a way that is in fact blasphemous from a Christian perspective. In this narrative, biblical figures like Moses and Jesus are reduced to peripheral roles, their significance overshadowed by the relentless glorification of Muhammad’s prophethood.

The rich historical details of Jesus’ kindness and moral character, which abound in the New Testament, are conspicuously absent in the Quran’s version. Instead of profound life lessons, the Islamic narrative diminishes Jesus to a mere predecessor of Muhammad, devoid of the wisdom attributed to him in Christian scriptures.

The Quran explicitly labels Christians as blasphemers (5:17, 5:72), accusing them of inventing lies about Allah (10:68-69) — a crime deemed the worst. The consequences, according to the Quran, are severe: Christians will suffer in Hell. As they endure torment, good Muslims, including Jesus, are envisioned to mock them, asking, “Where is their Lord?” (22:19-22). This isn’t theological disagreement; it’s a disturbing depiction of scorn and derision towards Christians, which has grim consequences in this life as well, particularly evident in the treatment of Christians in lands ruled by Islamic law.

The Quran’s portrayal of Jesus lacks genuine reverence, laying bare Islam’s deep-seated hostility towards Christianity and its central figure. As the layers of this narrative are unraveled, it is evident that the purported respect for Jesus in Islam is a carefully constructed façade, concealing a reality that challenges the very core of Christian beliefs.

Troubling and threatening Qur’anic verses about Christians include:

• Christians are told that Jesus is only a messenger of Allah, not his Son (Qur’an 4:171).
• Allah did not have a son; he had no need of one (Qur’an 19:35).
• Christians are wrong — Jesus was not crucified (Qur’an 4:157).
• Those who believe in the divinity of Christ are “disbelievers” (Qur’an 5:17).
• Christians “forgot a good part” of the divine revelations they received (Qur’an 5:14).
• Those who believe that Jesus is God’s Son are accursed (Qur’an 9:30).
• Christians who do not become Muslims “are the most vile of created beings” (Qur’an 98:6).
• Muslims must fight against and subjugate Christians (Qur’an 9:29).

The uncompromising Islamic doctrine concerning Christians includes hostility (“take them not as friends”), contempt and hatred (they are “the most vile of creatures”), and jihad (“fight those who believe not in Allah,” “strike terror” in their hearts).

Islam does not respect the Jesus of the Bible, the Christian faith, or its followers. It is hostile to all three. As the stark disparities between Islamic and Christian narratives about Jesus become apparent, it is crucial to recognize the depth of this ideological divide. The purported respect for Jesus in Islam appears to be a carefully constructed façade, concealing a reality that challenges the very core of Christian beliefs. The troubling and threatening Qur’anic verses about Christians underscore the uncompromising stance of Islam, fostering hostility, contempt, and a call to subjugation. The enduring objective, as consistently upheld by Islam, is the pursuit of absolute global hegemony—a planetary manifestation of Islamic destiny.
