A chilling Islamic march in Mississauga, Canada, on Saturday, November 17, openly glorified jihad and martyrdom through its chants, sparking outrage and alarm across the country. The march leader proclaimed:
“Our purpose is Allah; our way is the way of Jihad. Our purpose is Allah, and Jihad is our path. Death in the way of Allah is our best aspiration.”
These declarations were punctuated by repeated cries of “Takbir” followed by the Islamic war cry, “Allahu Akbar.” The marchers concluded with a rallying call: “Al-Quds [Jerusalem]: Onwards to Jerusalem, martyrs in our millions,” a line they chanted repeatedly for emphasis.
Calls for Jihad were made in Arabic en mass in Mississauga yesterday following the approval of its Mayor, Carolyn Parrish to hold a vigil for Hamas Yahya Sinwar, despite cancellation.

RAIR Foundation’s translation of the chants differs slightly from the video’s subtitles, but the intentions remain clear: a call to jihad and violent martyrdom.
Mississauga’s Troubling Pattern
This disturbing event comes just days after Mississauga’s antisemitic Mayor Carolyn Parrish sparked outrage by defending her comparison of Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar to Nelson Mandela. Parrish claimed, “Nelson Mandela was declared a terrorist by the United States of America ’til the year 2008. Your terrorist and somebody else’s terrorist may be two different things.”
Jewish organizations and human rights groups swiftly condemned Parrish’s comments, calling them an insult to the Jewish community and a gross mischaracterization. This permissive political environment has emboldened public displays of support for jihad, as evidenced in this latest march.
A Call for Immediate Action
The open celebration of jihad in Canadian streets is a wake-up call. This is not a fringe issue—it is Islam in its plain form, glorifying violence and martyrdom. But how can anything change when Mississauga’s own radical mayor, Carolyn Parrish, expresses sentiments that normalize Islamic terror? By comparing Hamas leaders to Nelson Mandela, she has given legitimacy to those who openly promote jihad violence.
Canada must take swift and uncompromising action to stop the spread of Islamic jihad and protect its citizens. However, this is unlikely under left-wing leaders like Parrish, who enable or excuse these beliefs and are part of the problem. In fact, the left-wing government aligns with Islamic jihadis and has long aided and abetted them, allowing their influence to grow unchecked.
The chants heard in this march are not distant echoes—they are here, now, in Canada’s streets. The time for decisive action is long overdue.
