Major Escalation: ANTIFA Attacker Launches Chemical Assault on Riot Police Amid Anti-Israel Protest in Amsterdam (Video)

AMSTERDAM – Police are still searching for the man who, during a pro-Palestine demonstration in Amsterdam in May, threw a bottle of ammonia at the riot police. The bottle was reportedly purchased shortly before the protest at a nearby supermarket on Nieuwezijds Voorburgwal, as reported in Opsporing Verzocht.

During the protest in central Amsterdam, an officer was hit in the face with the liquid, which temporarily blinded him. He was taken to the hospital for treatment. Other officers suffered severe breathing difficulties or had to vomit.

Police traced the origin of the bottle to investigate its source. Their investigation revealed that, about 30 minutes before the incident, four bottles were purchased at an Albert Heijn supermarket on Nieuwezijds Voorburgwal, across from the Royal Palace. However, the identity of the person who bought the bottles remains unknown.

In Opsporing Verzocht, footage was shown of a man throwing the bottle from the crowd. These images had previously been shared by the police.

It’s a known tactic for Black Bloc ANTIFA operatives to blend into larger protests to target police or specific assets. In this instance, the individual throwing the ammonia bottle appeared to use this method, hiding within the crowd to avoid detection after the attack. Such a tactic may be intended either to escalate tensions within the protest, leading to larger confrontations, or to provoke a government crackdown on public freedoms.

The use of a chemical weapon in this attack—specifically targeting riot police with ammonia—represents a serious and deliberate escalation. This attack could easily have caused fatal or permanent injuries. Yet both media and police appear to have downplayed its severity. Notably, rocks were thrown before the ammonia, signaling a clear intent to escalate violence.

Despite police tracing the purchase of ammonia to a nearby Albert Heijn store, they claim to have no information on the buyer. Given that pharmacies and stores are typically equipped with surveillance cameras and most transactions are cashless, this lack of information is surprising. Store employees would also likely remember a person purchasing multiple bottles of ammonia.

This incident may foreshadow a rise in violence, not only at anti-Israel protests but also at leftist demonstrations in general, reminiscent of the unrest seen during the summer of 2020 and the BLM riots in the lead-up to the U.S. elections.
