Minneapolis Police Swear in First Somali Muslim Hijabi and Non-Citizen Officer: A Dangerous Precedent for U.S. Law Enforcement (Video)

The Minneapolis Police Department’s decision to swear in Somali Muslim officer Ikran Mohamed, who adheres to Sharia law, and non-citizen officer Lesly Vera, reflects a concerning shift in U.S. law enforcement, where Islamic influence and the erosion of citizenship requirements threaten to undermine America’s foundational principles of security and sovereignty.

The recent appointment of Ikran Mohamed and Lesly Vera to the Minneapolis Police Department (MPD) is a concerning example of how Islamic influence and open-border policies are undermining America’s foundational values.

Ikran Mohamed, a 23-year-old Somali-American, immigrated to the U.S. from Kenya at 10. While Kenya is officially a U.S. ally in counterterrorism efforts, it is also a region where radical Islamic elements thrive, particularly within Somali communities linked to groups like Al-Shabaab. Mohamed’s role as the first Somali-American, sharia-adherent Muslim woman in the MPD is not just a milestone; it is a significant warning. Her adherence to Islamic law, symbolized by the hijab, raises concerns about the infiltration of Islam into American law enforcement, given the history of radicalization within some Somali communities.

The hijab she wears is not simply a headscarf—it’s a visible declaration of allegiance to sharia, representing adherence to an ideology that seeks to undermine Western freedoms and impose Islamic norms. By placing a Somali Muslim woman in a position of authority, Minneapolis is normalizing sharia practices in U.S. law enforcement, risking deeper infiltration of Islamic principles into American society. This aligns with a broader agenda to introduce sharia into non-Islamic societies through key institutions like law enforcement, compromising American democratic values and national security.

Lesly Vera, 27, moved to the U.S. from Mexico at the age of 4. Her appointment as a non-citizen police officer is equally troubling. Mexico, while not an outright hostile nation, has been at the center of illegal immigration crises overwhelming America’s borders. Vera’s status as a permanent resident, not a citizen, directly challenges the principle that those entrusted with enforcing the law must have full allegiance to the U.S. Allowing someone without citizenship to hold such a powerful position erodes the distinction between citizens and non-citizens in law enforcement, weakening the importance of legal status.

At a time when illegal immigration is threatening American communities, placing non-citizens in roles of authority sends a dangerous message that legal status and allegiance are irrelevant. This weakens national sovereignty and the sanctity of America’s borders, compromising the very foundation of law enforcement.

Both appointments demonstrate the dangerous consequences of open borders and unchecked Islamic influence. America’s security, sovereignty, and values are under attack, and these developments show how deeply these threats have infiltrated key institutions.
