THE HAGUE – On Wednesday, the police intervened during a pro-Hamas/Palestinian demonstration in The Hague, Netherlands. The area around The Hague Central Station was heavily policed in the evening, but by 9 p.m., calm had been restored. Incidents occurred where the police were pelted with fireworks at Turfmarkt and on Rijnstraat, adjacent to the station.
A police spokesperson has confirmed the arrest of one individual; however, this arrest was not related to the act of throwing fireworks. An on-site reporter observed the handcuffing of someone who had kicked a police car. The police spokesperson has stated that investigations into the fireworks incident are ongoing and did not rule out the possibility of more arrests.
Earlier in the day, over five hundred people gathered at the International Criminal Court to express their support for Hamas and Palestinians in the Gaza Strip. Subsequently, a violent portion of the enraged group proceeded towards Turfmarkt and the central station, leading to a confrontation with the police.
In response, dozens of demonstrators dispersed throughout the station, which was still open to travelers. The police instructed the demonstrators to vacate the premises, and a few who resisted were subjected to police baton use.
As a precaution during the violent demonstration, several shops on Turfmarkt, including Albert Heijn, were closed. Visual evidence revealed handprints marked with red paint on the facades of some buildings, with messages like “Israel Terrorist” becoming visible.
Police baton use is good. Thump those rugbeaters!
Most of the police look in good shape. Most of the heathens look fat, squatty, and out of shape. No contest.
