'In One Year, I’ve Faced More Assaults Than in 26 Years' – French Doctor Brutally Attacked by Patient (Video)

Drancy, Seine-Saint-Denis – A doctor with nearly three decades of service in Drancy has been left physically and emotionally scarred after a violent assault by a patient. The shocking attack has sparked outrage and highlights the increasing risks faced by healthcare professionals in France.

The physician, whose nose suffered a triple fracture requiring surgery, described his ordeal during an interview: “I can’t smell, I have an eye that I can’t see with very well, and my nose will need to be surgically straightened under general anesthesia.”

Despite his injuries, the doctor’s commitment to his patients is evident. He accompanied his wife, who also works at the clinic, out of concern for her safety, though he has been unable to return to work. “I can’t leave her alone, just in case there’s an issue and emergency services need to be contacted,” he explained.

The doctor, who has served the community for 27 years, revealed a grim trend of rising violence. “In just one year, I’ve been the victim of more assaults than in the previous 26 years. This world is going crazy,” he said.

The assault occurred in the very clinic where he has tirelessly worked to provide care, often beyond standard hours and accepting all emergencies. The attacker, a 22-year-old man who had been a patient since childhood, assaulted the doctor after a dispute involving his mother. Despite the doctor’s attempts to address the family’s grievances – even issuing a check to resolve the issue – the young man attacked him, leaving him severely injured.

“This wasn’t a drug addict,” the doctor emphasized. “This was someone I’ve treated since he was six years old. I approached him calmly, called him by his first name, and tried to solve the issue. But despite that, his mother sent him to break my face. I have trouble understanding this.”

The attack has left the physician contemplating early retirement, just three years shy of his planned timeline. “I think we’ll close the clinic,” he said, citing the growing risk to his safety.
