With over 600 chapters across the United States, the MSA is committed to spreading  Wahhabi, a very orthodox form of Islam, and advancing the Muslim Brotherhood’s goal of establishing an Islamic state governed by Sharia.

The MSA’s radical allegiances are evident in its own pledge of allegiance, which mirrors the Muslim Brotherhood’s creed, declaring: “Jihad is our way, and dying in the way of Allah is our highest hope.”

This connection showcases the Apex Mosque’s role in fostering Islamic activism, using youth programs to further the ideological and expansionist aims of the Muslim Brotherhood.

One of the founders of the Apex Mosque, Imam Khalid Shahu and a former leader of the Muslim community in North Carolina, was born in Morocco in 1971. He was recently interviewed by Al-Jazeera, the Qatari state-funded network notorious for its ties to terror organizations like Hamas, to boast about how he was able to expand Islamic influence with the “Warehouse” turned Mosque

• Why is Qatar—through Al-Jazeera—interested in a small mosque in North Carolina and the growing Islamic influence across the state.
• What are Khalid Shahu’s ties to Qatar?
• Was Qatari money funneled into the controversial Apex Mosque?
• Where did the money come from to finance this project and Shahu‘s other Islamic ventures?

• At UNC-Chapel Hill (2011–2020), he served as a Teaching Assistant Professor of Arabic, coordinating and teaching Arabic language and culture across multiple levels.

The programs established under Dr. Shahu’s leadership are not harmless “community activities.” They are carefully designed mechanisms to:

“I charge you with five of what Allah has charged me with—to assemble, to listen, to obey, to immigrate, and to wage Jihad for the sake of Allah.”
