Concerning revelations have surfaced about Australian politician Senator Mehreen Faruqi, raising questions about her eligibility and fitness as an elected representative in the Australian parliament. An analysis of her previously undisclosed remarks, stemming from her role as a left-wing Greens Party Muslim Senator, highlights her radical perspectives on Australia’s stance on global issues, particularly regarding ‘climate change’ and international aid.
On November 29th, 2023, a Sky News Australia broadcast featured host Chris Kenny urging Mehreen Faruqi to resign from her Senate post after her speech, which criticized Australia, resurfaced on social media. Kenny expressed his surprise at these comments, which he had not previously heard.
The report included a clip of Faruqi’s claims about the 2022 floods in Pakistan, her country of origin. In her speech, she stated, “I’ve just returned from Pakistan after visiting my Ammi (mother). Australia’s criminal inaction on climate change is deeply felt there. It’s evident in the extreme heat, the melting glaciers washing away entire villages, and in the lives of Pakistani children suffocating in a mix of intense heat and trapped pollution. Therefore, we must lift our gaze; we must start making climate reparations to the global South countries most harmed by Australia’s contribution to the climate crisis.”
Chris Kenny interjected, “Hang on. Let’s stop there. Australia’s criminal inaction? An Australian senator in the Australian Senate is talking about another country and labeling her own country criminal. What’s going on here?”
He continued, “Australia is criminal. Australia is to blame. Australia harms Pakistan, and we should pay reparations. This rhetoric is disgusting and idiotic, especially coming from an Australian politician. Australia contributes about 1% of global emissions and is decreasing. As our chief scientist once said, even if we stopped all emissions, it wouldn’t significantly impact the climate. Yet Faruqi slanders her own country, blaming us for Pakistan’s natural disasters. She should resign from the Senate. Why isn’t she protesting at the Chinese Embassy, responsible for about a third of the world’s carbon dioxide emissions? We already knew Faruqi dislikes Israel, but it seems she’s not fond of Australia either!”
The hypocrisy of Mehreen Faruqi becomes apparent when considering that Australia provided immediate humanitarian assistance and donated USD 2 million to Pakistan following the 2022 floods. Chris Kenny highlighted this during the report. Instead of acknowledging Australia’s financial aid, she labeled the response as “criminal inaction on climate.” This characterization undermines the principles of public service and raises questions about her credibility and loyalty as an Australian politician.
Senator Faruqi’s silence on more significant “emission offenders” like China, responsible for a third of global carbon dioxide emissions, indicates her moral grandstanding on climate change is baseless and opportunistic. For context, the distance between Australia and Islamic Pakistan is approximately 11,077.11 km (6,883 miles).
The absurdity of Faruqi’s statements in the Australian Senate, blaming Australia and calling for climate reparations for Pakistan, is challenging to comprehend.
Furthermore, Faruqi, a Pakistani Muslim, has participated in pro-Hamas and pro-Palestine rallies in Australia. She was seen with six students at a pro-Palestine march in Sydney, where a student’s placard showed an Israeli flag being thrown into a trash bin with the words “keep the world clean.”
Faruqi shared a photo on social media, standing with Hamas supporters, captioned: “Courageous students will lead the way for justice for Palestine, even when their Labor government won’t.” After being asked to explain her presence in the photo, she deleted the post.
Mehreen Faruqi, born in Lahore, Pakistan, is also known for her Hinduphobic views. As reported by Australia Today, Hindu activist Ravi Singh Dhankar in Sydney stated, “Mehreen Faruqi is part of the Greens’ plan attacking Hindus and Jews resisting their historical persecution.” He added, “The Greens and leaders like Faruqi fuel hatred towards those speaking against Hindu persecution in Kashmir, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and elsewhere.”
Sky News Australia’s report shows Faruqi’s skill in using tragedies like the Pakistan floods for her agendas. Her pro-Hamas stance is evident, as Chris Kenny remarked, “Hamas must be pleased to have such useful idiots in the West.”
Mehreen Faruqi exemplifies how Islamic Pakistan’s deep state uses its diaspora to spread hatred against Israel, India, Jews, Hindus, and to lobby for Palestine and Kashmir. Her slander of “criminal Australia” is the latest in this pattern.
Faruqi exploits her position, ignoring issues like the destruction of Hindu temples, kidnappings of minority girls, and killings of ethnic minorities in Pakistan, to propagate false narratives about the climate and support for Palestine and Hamas. This behavior does a disservice to the Australians who voted for her.
As Chris Kenny suggests, it is time for Faruqi to reassess her roles and responsibilities and consider stepping down from office. She might find a more receptive audience in the Parliament of Pakistan, where a career seems to await her. “Criminal Australia” will surely not miss Mehreen Faruqi’s presence in the Australian Senate.
