On This Day: Off-Duty British Army Soldier Lee Rigby Was Brutally Hacked to Death by Two Muslims Following the Quran

On May 22, 2013, in London, England, an off-duty British Army soldier, 25-year-old Lee Rigby, was brutally hacked to death by two Islamic converts, Mujaahid Abu Hamza and Michael Adebowale.

Rigby, who was also a beloved father and husband, was walking along Wellington Street when he was attacked. Hamza and Adebowale ran him down with a car, then used knives and a cleaver to stab and hack him to death.

The men dragged Rigby’s body into the road and remained at the scene until the police arrived, informing passers-by that they had murdered Rigby to avenge Muslims killed by the British military.

Cell phone footage filmed by a witness shows Hamza holding a bloody cleaver in his hands. Looking directly into the camera, Hamza says:

“By Allah, we swear by the almighty Allah that we will never stop fighting you until you leave us alone. We are forced by many, many verses in the Koran to fight them as they fight us. An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth. You people will never be safe.”

Mujaahid Abu Hamza admitted that the Qur’an inspired him. He handed a blood-stained note full of Qur’an quotes to a bystander. These were the Quran verses that he cited to justify his actions:

Group 2: 9:24, 9:39, 9:46, 9:87, 9:93
Group 3: 9:67, 3:173, 47:20, 9:86, 9:31, 9:51-55, 8:5-6, 2:170
Group 4: 3:160, 9:119, 9:123
Group 5: 9:37, 2:216, 3:142

Surah 9:24 reads, “Say, [or “O Prophet, tell them”], “If your fathers, your sons, your brothers, your wives, your relatives, wealth which you have obtained, commerce wherein you fear decline, and dwellings with which you are pleased are more beloved to you than Allah and His Messenger and jihad in His cause, then wait until Allah executes His command. Allah does not guide the defiantly disobedient people.”

In the note, he also said, “To my beloved children, know that to fight Allah’s enemies is an obligation.”

Despite all of this, the media and politicians tried to say that this Islamic attack had nothing to do with Islam.

As we can see once again from the brutal jihad attack on Lee Rigby, Islam isn’t hijacked by extremists – it is what inspires them.

Many people prefer to bury their heads in the sand or look for ways to re-cast Islamic terror to fit their political agenda. However, Muslims like Mujaahid Abu Hamza and Michael Adebowale behind the violence are quite explicit about the religious certainty that compels their actions.

These jihadis explicitly wanted the world to know that they slaughtered Lee Rigby in the name of Allah and for the cause of Islam and Islamic law.

Eleven years later, the media and the left still won’t acknowledge that Lee Rigby was killed by Muslims simply following the Quran.
