Trump-Like Crowds Go Wild For Salvini: "Italy for the Italians" (Watch)

While addressing a crowd of 200,000, former Deputy Italian Prime Minister Matteo Salvini (Lega Party, League) led a massive Trump-like pro-freedom rally in Rome with ally Giorgia Meloni (Fratelli d’Itali party) to stand up to Italy’s new radical left government headed by Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte and his open borders immigration policies.

Italy’s new leftist government headed by Conte has kept its promise to reverse Salvini’s immigration stance, which empowered Italy to refuse NGO human trafficking vessels to enter their seaports. The number of migrants arriving on the Italian shores in September of 2019 is more than twice the number that arrived in September of 2018. 

Conte appointed pro-mass migration Luciana Lamorgese to replace Matteo Salvini in Italy’s new radical left government. Conte made it clear he stands with the European Union, Merkel and Macron and will no longer protect Italy’s borders. 

As Salvini pointed out in his speech,

I want to live in a free country. In a country governed without waiting for a call from Merkel or

Macron.

Salvini has been fighting to protect Italy from Germany and France’s influence for years. In January 2019, Conte was caught on a secret film undermining Salvini and aligning himself with German Chancellor Angela Merkel at the at the Davos Economic Forum. Conte denounced Salvini’s pro-borders strict immigration policies and warned Merkel that Salvini’s policies went against Germany and France.

Given the radical policy changes by Conte and his alliances with Germany and France, many Italians feel unrepresented by this new government. Salvini has pledged to create a government for the Italian people not one “produced by Paris and Berlin, born out of a fear of giving up power, without dignity and without ideals, with the wrong people in the wrong place.” Not surprisingly, a recent poll by the newspaper Il Giornale on September 19 shows that Salvini would win an election by a landslide margin.

The popularity of Salvini and Meloni and their party’s alliance, League and Fratelli d’Itali^, will most likely put Salvini back in power in Italy’s next election.
