Awad’s sermon was live-streamed on EPIC Masjid’s YouTube channel, where he boasted that the Muslim community is affluent, vibrant, and ready to take the next step: the complete rebranding of Islam in America. His words were not just rhetoric; they were a declaration of war against American values. CAIR has been systematically infiltrating our schools, media, and politics to erase any negative portrayal of Islam, rewriting history, and Islamizing our democratic institutions.

One of the most alarming examples of this is the influence CAIR has exerted over American textbooks, which Awad proudly confirmed. For years, they have worked to remove content that portrays Islam negatively, ensuring that children in schools are learning a sanitized, pro-Islam version of history that ignores jihad, extremism, and Islamic conquests.

CAIR’s Deep-Seated Ties to Hamas

Let’s be clear: CAIR is not a civil rights organization. It is a Hamas front group that masquerades as a defender of Muslim rights while working behind the scenes to promote a radical Islamic agenda. Nihad Awad, among the founders of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), has held a significant political presence, including standing alongside President George W. Bush at the Islamic Center of Washington days after the 9/11 attacks and serving on a civil rights advisory panel under Vice President Al Gore. Despite this influence, Awad’s ties to Hamas are undeniable.

Awad’ has publicly supported Hamas multiple times. In a 1994 symposium at Barry University, Awad stated, “I am in support of the Hamas movement.” This is the same Hamas that the U.S. government officially designated as a terrorist organization in 1995.

However, Awad’s involvement with Hamas runs much deeper. In 1993, he participated in a secret three-day summit in Philadelphia with known Hamas members and supporters, where they discussed strategies to undermine the Oslo Accords and ramp up fundraising for Hamas in America. FBI wiretaps from that meeting revealed that participants used code words like “SAMAH” (Hamas spelled backward) to conceal their true intentions.

Awad was evasive when asked about his participation during a 2003 deposition, initially claiming he didn’t remember attending the Philadelphia meeting. But FBI evidence and transcripts later confirmed his role, and the meeting itself was part of a larger effort to funnel millions of dollars to Hamas, as uncovered during the Holy Land Foundation trial. Despite this overwhelming evidence, leftist politicians and media continue to defend and promote CAIR’s agenda under the guise of “diversity” and “inclusion.”

Before helping launch CAIR, Awad worked as public relations director for the Islamic Association for Palestine (IAP) in 1993 and 1994. IAP, a U.S.-based organization, was found to have strong links to Hamas. A 2001 Immigration and Naturalization Service memo documented IAP’s support for Hamas, noting that the organization was part of Hamas’ propaganda apparatus.

U.S. District Judge Gladys Kessler confirmed in a legal ruling that IAP acted in support of Hamas, publishing and distributing pro-Hamas materials, including its anti-Semitic charter. Despite these revelations, Awad has consistently defended IAP, even in Senate testimony, where he chose to downplay its role, describing it as a grassroots organization that had not been criminally charged. Under Awad’s leadership, CAIR has consistently opposed U.S. efforts to disrupt terrorist financing networks and condemned prosecutions targeting Islamist extremists.

Awad’s pattern of defending terrorism extends beyond rhetoric. When the Texas-based computer export company Infocom was raided for illegal transactions with Hamas and other terrorist groups, Awad decried it as an attack on Muslims. Five Elashi brothers, connected to Hamas, were convicted in relation to this case. Similarly, Awad defended the Holy Land Foundation (HLF), a charity exposed for funneling millions to Hamas, calling its closure politically motivated.

Despite being convicted on 108 counts of financing Hamas, Awad dismissed the evidence against HLF as a mere oversight akin to minor accounting errors. In a 2003 IslamOnline.net dialogue, Awad continued to attack law enforcement actions as being driven by extremists and the pro-Israel lobby.

Awad’s rhetoric reached new lows when he compared post-9/11 counter-terrorism policies to Nazi tactics, suggesting that measures such as fingerprinting foreign nationals were akin to forcing Muslims to wear “a star and crescent.” This inflammatory comparison highlights his ongoing campaign to paint legitimate security measures as part of a broader anti-Muslim agenda.

This pattern of defending and justifying Hamas’s actions came to a head on Oct. 7, 2023, when Hamas terrorists slaughtered 1,400 people, including 33 Americans. Awad delivered a speech justifying the attacks, calling for mass protests across Arab nations in support of Palestinians. He led CAIR in rallying over 100,000 Muslims in D.C., where speakers called for the destruction of Israel, using the slogan “from the [Jordan] river to the [Mediterranean] sea.” Awad himself delivered a fiery speech accusing Israel of committing “genocide” and threatened to mobilize against President Biden in the 2024 elections if he did not push for a ceasefire.

In November 2023, Awad, speaking at the American Muslims for Palestine (AMP) conference, celebrated the Hamas-led October 7 attacks, stating that the people of Gaza had a right to self-defense while Israel did not. He praised the Muslim Hamas attackers, saying they had “broken the siege” and were victorious. Awad even went as far as to praise the faith of Hamas terrorists, claiming that their strength came from their belief that “heaven is in Gaza,” and that those who died would enter another heaven.

This celebration of Hamas’s brutality has further exposed Awad’s deep-rooted ties to the Islamic terrorist group, contradicting CAIR’s claims of being a peaceful civil rights organization.

In the early 1990s, while serving as the public relations director for the Islamic Association of Palestine (IAP)—a Hamas-linked organization—Awad shaped public opinion in favor of Hamas. FBI surveillance documents reveal that his media presence was carefully crafted to support Hamas’ objectives while concealing its true agenda.

Now, as CAIR’s executive director, Awad is focused on leveraging his media expertise to reshape the portrayal of Islam in America. His August 30 sermon highlighted his plan to create an “army” of Muslim journalists and academics who will infiltrate American media to replace negative portrayals of Islam with a whitewashed, pro-Islamic narrative. This is not just a strategy for media control—it’s a concerted effort to rewrite history and silence critics of Islam.

CAIR’s Ongoing Infiltration of Key American Institutions

They have infiltrated multiple sectors of American society, including government agencies, law enforcement, and counterterrorism units, making it harder to address the threats they pose. At the same time, significant inroads have been made into our food supply through halal certification, increasing their economic control.
