Netherlands: Burqa-clad woman explains how Sharia overrides Dutch values, customs, and laws (Video)

A “Dutch” woman is interviewed about her determination to wear her burka despite the Netherlands banning face coverings in some areas. She affirms that Shariah overrides Dutch values, customs, and laws.

The Dutch law which was enacted on August 1, 2019, bans the wearing of “face-covering clothing” in public buildings, including hospitals, schools and government offices, as well as on public transportation. However, the ban does not extend to Dutch public streets.

The Netherlands’s “face-covering” ban applies to the niqab (which cover the entire face except for the eyes) and burqa (which cover the entire face) but not the hijab and chador.

The Netherlands is the sixth European country to approve a burqa ban, after France, Belgium, Bulgaria, Austria and Denmark.

Interviewer:

…then it’s not a big deal to show your face, when the law demands this, from August 1.

Veiled woman:

Then I’ll have to show my face to everybody in school, to both the men and women who are present there. 

Interviewer:

And you really don’t want to do that.

Veiled woman:

No, I really don’t want that. 

Interviewer:

Still, I think that people don’t understand that. You’re supposed to set an example, especially for children. 

Veiled woman:

Again, I teach my children that Allah, that our creator is more important than Dutch rules. And that we don’t have to adapt to Dutch society. 

Interviewer:

That’s a bold statement, that Allah’s rules are more important than Dutch law.

Veiled woman:

Yes, that’s true. But that is my religious conviction. And Allah and our creator is more important. Even more important than ourselves.

Interviewer:

But you live in the Netherlands, so you have to follow the local rules, Correct?

Veiled woman:

And so if I were to follow the rules, I’d have to take it off, and I don’t want to take it off. So that means I can’t go beyond the gate.
