Journalist Megyn Kelly interviewed a Canadian nurse, Amy Mamm, from British Colombia. She may lose her medical license for believing in biological sex, that men are men and women are women.
She is also facing calls for her permanent removal from her career and is under investigation for believing that Gender ideology is negatively impacting children’s safety and rights.
Furthermore, the feminist mother-of-two, who has been a nurse for a decade, is under fire for believing that women should be allowed safe spaces in areas like washrooms, changing rooms, domestic abuse shelters, and prisons.
Hamm thought that Canada was a free and tolerant society where differing views were respected; however, she has learned that only particular views are allowed, and those who disagree will be punished and potentially lose their careers and professional accreditations.
Hamm is before a Canadian disciplinary tribunal following an investigation by the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives. There were two complaints; one charge against Hamm reads:
“Between approximately July 2018 and March 2021, you made discriminatory and derogatory statements regarding transgender people while identifying yourself as a nurse or nurse educator. These statements were made across various online platforms, including but not limited to podcasts, videos, published writings, and social media.”
The other complaint was logged anonymously about Hamm and the “I ❤️ J.K. Rowling” billboard she co-sponsored. But, again, there is no suggestion of wrongdoing at her job.

JK Rowling is the author of the famed ‘Harry Potter fantasy series but became well-known for being canceled after suggesting that men claiming to be women should not be allowed to compete in women’s sports.
The well-known left-of-center feminist was immediately blacklisted from Hollywood and a cast party for he own movie for daring to say biologically factual statements and witticisms about biology. She was smeared as transphobic, hateful, and insensitive.
One remark that drew condemnation from the left was made about the term: “People who menstruate.” She stated in a post on Twitter, “I’m sure there used to be a word for those people. Someone helps me out. Wumben? Wimpund? Woomud?”:
The left quickly became outraged at Rowling, noting that her tweet was not only exclusionary to transgender men and women but also to cisgender women who no longer menstruate.
In 2020, free speech warrior Kellie-Jay Keen, often known under her Pseudonym Posie Parker, had a Billboard at Edinburgh Waverley train station in Scottland in support of the author that stated: “I ❤️ JK Rowling.”
It was unveiled on Monday, July 27, to coincide with the Harry Potter author’s 55th birthday on July 31, and females from across the UK were invited to take selfies alongside the advertisement and wish Rowling a ‘Happy Birthday.’
However, the digital advertising was taken down for being too “political” and potentially offensive after the left threw an uproar and fought to harm JK Rowling for daring not to agree with their transgender politics.
As the National Post explains, “Feminism used to be a complimentary word, a description of someone boldly fighting for women’s rights in a male-dominated world. Now it’s a slur, used not to describe what the person is fighting for but as an ideological marker that says what they must be against.” So JK Rowling and Hamm’s crimes are not that they are fighting for women’s rights, but that they are transphobic.
The evidence that they are transphobes? Well, they are feminists, which must mean that she’s for women and against transgendered people. And the proof of that? Well, they are feminists (and round and round we go.)
Hamm’s case is really about free speech, and specifically whether it should be a crime worthy of losing your livelihood to say you believe in biology.
In a statement last year, Lisa Bildy, a lawyer for Hamm, said, “This case is fundamentally about speech: whether a nurse can publicly debate a topic that is as politically charged as this one; whether she can advocate on her own time for women’s rights to not have intact male bodies in their prisons, changerooms, rape crisis centers, and sports teams, and for care to be taken not to rush children and adolescents into life-altering and permanent changes to their bodies.”
She added, “But more broadly, this is a case about two irreconcilable worldviews that have come into conflict, and conflicts are best solved by discussion and debate, not censorship and punishment. The College is tasked with keeping patients safe and regulating the profession in the public interest. But professional misconduct must not be redefined to include speaking unpopular truths. To do so is to undermine the very foundations of liberal democracy.”
Amy Mamm is showing amazing courage in the face of persecution for simply saying a woman is a woman and a man is a man. She is on trial for defending women and advocating for their safety. If you believe the same thing as Amy Mamm, how long will it be until your employer drags you before a tribunal, smears your name, targets your family, labels you as a bigot, and tries to bankrupt your family?
Or will you do exactly what they left hopes for and stay silent?

The problem this woman faces, is identifying herself as a nurse while making statements. The same could be said for all of the academics writing letters to newspaper editors identifying the position they hold and where that is. They are expressing opinions, suggesting that their opinion represents the opinion of their licensing body or employer. While their opinion may be valid and entirely correct, the problem is not the opinion itself, but whether the opinion suggests it is the accepted opinion of an institution.
