Friday on Parliament Hill in Canada’s capitol Ottawa, a group of protestors braved freezing rain to listen to several speakers discuss a dangerous bill which denies LGBT citizens the right to explore their own gender identity and sexuality. Family members, counselors or religious figures who seek to offer support and guidance could face up to five years in prison.
Deceptively named “The Anti-Conversion Therapy Bill,” Bill C-6 makes it a criminal offence to provide “treatment or services designed to change an individual’s sexual orientation to heterosexual or gender identity to cisgender or to reduce non-heterosexual sexual attraction or sexual behaviour.” As noted in a petition to stop BILL C-6, “This Bill includes an outrageous ban on change therapy, counselling, advice, and prayer for those who no longer wish to identify as LGBT.”

Should Bill C-6 pass, the ramifications include the following (verbatim from the Campaign for Life):
- Pastors and priests will be jailed for two years for publicly preaching repentance to homosexuals.
- Counsellors will be jailed for two years for offering help to those struggling with unwanted same-sex attraction or gender dysphoria.
- Books, videos, web sites, TV programs, and perhaps the Bible itself will be censored and banned for espousing the traditional view of sexuality and gender.
- Parents will be jailed for five years for teaching their children to accept their biological gender, or to reject sexual immorality.
The petition also rightfully points out that it is not the role of the government to get in the way of “helping someone overcome unwanted same-sex attractions or gender dysphoria” Furthermore, “[I]t is also a violation of the fundamental human rights of those who want to change.” Individuals should be able to make up their own minds and parents should have the right to act in the best interest of their children.
Rally organizer David Cooke, the national campaign manager for Campaign Life Coalition, warned that this bill will “criminalize parents who want to help their kids just simply accept their own biology.”
RAIR Foundation USA spoke with Dr. Ann Gillies after her speech at the Stop the Ban Rally, where she explained that “conversion therapy” is not a “medical or psychological term,” but rather an “activist term” that seeks to discredit standard care such as “talk therapy” for those seeking help in exploring their own “behaviors, thoughts and attractions that they may want to change,” she said, “…and that is counter to everything therapists have always done,” she continued.
The bill criminalizes any attempt to even talk someone out of, for one example, a sex change operation. And Bill C-6 can literally put a parent in a position of being guilty of a jailable offense should that parent suggest their child may wish to wait a few years before getting mutilating and sterilizing surgeries, or taking dangerous drugs that can permanently alter their appearance and sexual functioning.
Will Bill C-6 Criminalize the Bible?
The bill also makes any literature which opposes transsexualism or any non heterosexual activity illegal, effectively making the religious literature of all Western religions illegal, as well as any programs that religious institutions may run for the benefit of anyone asking for help to retain or regain their heterosexuality.
This bill however, will not criminalize a teacher or other authority that might talk a child into asking for dangerous procedures such as transformational sexual cosmetic surgery.
The government claims Bill C-6, if passed, “will make Canada’s laws on conversion therapy the most progressive and comprehensive in the world.”

Note that the dangerous Human Rights Campaign, which spearheaded the bathroom bills in America and was founded by pedophile and Democrat bundler Terry Bean, is pushing similar legislation in America.
The “Stop the Ban Rally” was organized by the Campaign Life Coalition, who is described as “the premiere advocate for legal and cultural change in Canada with respect to protecting human life and the family.”
