Geert Wilders Vows: 'Halt to Asylum, Number One on The Agenda' (Video)

Geert Wilders’ visit to express support for Dutch citizens protesting illegal asylum seekers becomes an opportunity for left-wing politicians and those purporting to be conservatives to criticize him, revealing a concerted effort to limit his role in government formation and diminish the influence of the Netherlands’ one true conservative leader and party.

Geert Wilders, the leader of the Party for Freedom (PVV), recently visited Kijkduin, a seaside resort in The Hague, to express support for local residents protesting against the arrival of illegal asylum seekers. This visit has sparked discussions in political circles and among potential coalition partners, shedding light on the lack of support citizens receive from most political leaders and explaining why Wilders is so popular among the Dutch.

The visit raised eyebrows among possible coalition partners NSC and BBB, with NSC leader Pieter Omtzigt describing it as “bijzonder” (remarkable). While acknowledging Wilders’ freedom to move where he wished, Omtzigt also expressed his sad belief that the focus should be on ongoing political explorations instead of Dutch citizens.

The context of the visit stems from the recent accommodation of 100 to 120 military-aged illegal men in a five-star hotel in Kijkduin due to overflow from the dangerous and overcrowded reception center in Ter Apel. (see past luxury cruise line accommodations here) The municipality of The Hague organized an information meeting where Wilders aimed to offer support to concerned residents.

Security concerns prevented Wilders from entering the meeting, but he briefly appeared at the entrance, emphasizing his stance on an asylum stop and expressing solidarity with the locals. In conversations with the press, he reiterated his belief that the Netherlands is being “overspoeld” (flooded) with asylum seekers and pledged unwavering support to those who share his concerns.

Political reporter Arjan Noorlander highlighted the tension surrounding Wilders’ visit, with concerns from other parties that he might maintain a campaign-mode tone, particularly with terms like being “flooded” by asylum seekers. Despite the scrutiny, Wilders defended his visit, stating that he has been attending such gatherings for years and finds it essential to do so post-elections.

The Haagse burgemeester (mayor) Jan van Zanen welcomed Wilders’ involvement but cautioned against turning Kijkduin into a “partijpolitiek circus” (party-political circus). Van Zanen attended the meeting and stressed the need for the municipality to contribute to the asylum crisis resolution.

While Wilders’ visit indicates his ongoing commitment to addressing migration concerns, it also highlights Dutch politicians’ failure to address the average citizen’s concerns. Instead, party leaders spent their time criticizing Wilders rather than advocating for their fellow countrymen. For example, CDA leader Henri Bontenbal deemed the action “niet handig” (not smart) and “een beetje polariserend” (a bit polarizing). PvdD-lijsttrekker Esther Ouwehand questioned whether such actions align with the aspiration to be the premier for all of the Netherlands.

As the PVV won the recent elections, Wilders should be poised to become the next Prime Minister of the Netherlands. However, the left and many so-called conservatives are taking every possible step to limit his role in the coalition formation. It is not surprising that they are using his visit to Kijkduin as an opportunity to critique him. Wilders and his party have been the most outspoken critics, highlighting the failures of the current government and leaders in efforts to halt the flow of illegal immigrants.

The globalists have made it clear that they are determined to keep the borders open and refuse to address the concerns of Dutch citizens, prioritizing the needs of asylum seekers over them. The nuanced perspectives and attacks on Wilders surrounding his visit underscore the complexity of finding common ground in forming a coalition government determined to keep the Netherlands’ one true conservative leader and party with as little power as possible.
