With eleven days remaining before the second round of the French presidential election, the campaign is in full swing between Emmanuel Macron and Marine Le Pen. A video has gone viral of Macron debating a citizen during a Presidential campaign stop in Châtenois. At first, the President had the upper hand in the verbal spar. The tide quickly shifted as the citizen verbally annihilated Macron and his destructive policies and lies.

“Never seen a president as bad as you”: Emmanuel Macron was taken to task while on the campaign trail in Alsace.
Emmanuel Macron was strongly attacked in Châtenois (Bas-Rhin) during his campaign stops between the two elections France holds to pick a new president. During his day of campaigning between the two rounds, which ended yesterday with a meeting in Strasbourg, the candidate who came out on top in the first round, Emanuel Macron, once again clashed with a man who harshly challenged him, calling him a “manipulator.”

You’re for retirement at 65 years, I took it at 65 years, but by choice and not by obligation,” attacked the man who challenged him before dropping on the President: “I have never seen a president of the Fifth Republic as bad as you.” Emmanuel Macron sarcastically thanked him, “I thank you for having plenty of arguments to put on the table,” and invoked his desire for debate: “in a democracy, we can debate, but if you have ready-made ideas and you do not want to debate, we can not get there …“
Attacked on his health policy, an under-represented theme in this campaign in view of the last two years, but which regularly pops up while walking through crowds, the candidate answers to the criticism of the suppression of “5700 beds” that “we put back 11 billion per year into hospitals”.
Macron’s challenger disregards his statement pointing out the policy previous to his mandate: “the system comes from far” (before Macron’s term).

The voter Calls Macron out for his contempt: “You’re Machiavellian, you’re manipulative and you’re a liar on top of that,” the man expressed further. “Any facts?”, replies the president. “We were taken for less than nothing, lazy, refractory Gauls,” the man adds… who views Emmanuel Macron as a “refractory Gaul” in the mirror.
“But are you crazy or what?”, he exclaims when he is accused of having “murdered the hospital”. “You’re a real chameleon, Mr. President”. “I answer you, look at the facts”, explaining the situation when he was elected – and forgetting that before the Covid years and under his mandate, the hospitals were already in a critical situation, with exhausted caregivers who tried to alert the public with strikes and demonstrations. “My GP, my dentist was fired, the liberal nurses in our villages, they were fired.”… “But not by me, it is the Orders that got them fired” “And who gave the orders?”, the pensioner says, before stressing that “it is a scandal”.
A stormy exchange that could be considered non-constructive, but symptomatic of the dialogue that has become impossible. It reveals the main grievances that stick to the president’s campaign (largely ignored until now). It is the fear of a breakup of the French social model and the loss of dignified living conditions, the health policy, the affairs of his entourage, and the trial of contempt. The video has gone viral, quickly exceeding one million views. It also reveals the dimension of Emmanuel Macron’s five-year term. Many French people have shown their support to the man who challenged Emmanuel Macron, recognizing themselves in his words. Will Marine Le Pen, an opponent of the outgoing president in the second round, take up the debate?
