Spanish authorities have apprehended a 44-year-old imam in Madrid, also an Arabic teacher, on charges of Indoctrinating Muslim minors with jihadist ideology and recruiting for the Islamic State (IS). The Guardia Civil’s investigation, launched last year, revealed the imam’s deep involvement in promoting ‘jihadist ideology’ and actively seeking to radicalize young students.
The suspect, who taught at a mosque in Madrid, reportedly propagated his violent religion’s commands, which align with the rhetoric of major Islamic terrorist organizations. He glorified the concept of suicide bombers as a means to fight against Jews, Christians, and apostates, advocating this in his classes as a model for all Muslims to follow. The suspect’s activities created conflicts within the community, leading to his removal from the mosque. Subsequently, he continued his efforts in more private settings.
Understanding the Global Context of Islamic Terrorism
Sadly, what Spanish authorities do not seem to grasp is that the Imam is not an outlier. Islamic terrorists, such as those in ISIS, and individuals like this Imam, explicitly conduct their activities in the name of Allah and for the cause of Islam and Islamic law, and in perfect accordance with Islamic scripture and history. A common thread among these Muslim terrorists is their attribution of motivation and success to their Islamic religious beliefs. In this context, it’s not that Islam is hijacked by extremists; rather, it is the banal orthodoxy of Islam that commands the actions we see by jihadis throughout history.
Islamic Jurisprudence and Jihad
Further emphasizing this point is the perspective of Islamic jurisprudence. The most reliable of all Hadith collections, that of Bukhari, mentions Jihad over 50 times in the context of Muhammad’s words, predominantly referring to holy war. Only a few exceptions diverge from this, such as roles of women and non-combatants in times of holy war. This view is also echoed in the ‘Reliance of the Traveler’, a classical manual of Islamic jurisprudence, where Jihad is defined as warfare against non-Muslims to establish the religion. This underlines the understanding that, within both the Shiite tradition and the various Sunni schools of jurisprudence, Jihad is primarily seen in the context of physical warfare against non-believers and its funding.
Investigation and Legal Proceedings
In addition to two home searches where computer equipment was seized for analysis, the suspect has been brought before the judicial authorities and is currently held in provisional custody. The Guardia Civil’s Information Service, with support from Europol analysts, gathered evidence of the suspect’s alleged terrorist activities. The operation was overseen by the Central Court of Instruction No. 2 and the National Court’s Prosecutor’s Office.
The Broader Impact on Spain
This case underscores the growing concern of Muslims teaching their youth to follow their religion’s violent commands, a trend observed in other recent Guardia Civil investigations in open borders Spain. Since the elevation of Spain’s anti-terror alert level to four in June 2015, the Guardia Civil has intensified investigations into radicalization and Islamic indoctrination, recognizing their role in supporting Muslim terrorist organizations.
Immigration Policies and National Security
Spanish police have tried to be vigilant against Islamic terrorism since the 2004 Madrid train bombings by Al Qaeda-inspired Muslims, which killed 191 and injured around 2,000. The current left-wing government’s immigration policy, which keeps Spain’s borders open, has been criticized for facilitating the entry of Jihadis under the guise of asylum seekers.
There are no significant deterrents for migrants attempting to enter Spain. Once they scale the border wall and invade the country, they are handed food, clothing, money, and shelter. Under Spain’s Socialist-led government, all asylum applications must be considered. Those denied asylums are rarely deported and instead make their way to the other 26 European Union states.
Political Reactions and Cultural Challenges
Spanish politician Ignacio Garriga of the VOX party has openly criticized Islam as incompatible with Western culture, attributing it to violence, social exclusion, and the degradation of communities. He has also condemned the government’s open-border policies and the multicultural approach, citing their significant repercussions on citizen safety and societal cohesion.
The Demographic Shift in Spain
The Muslim population in Spain has seen a tenfold increase over the last 30 years, now exceeding 2.5 million, with over a million being Spanish citizens. This demographic shift, which includes significant numbers from Morocco, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Senegal, and Algeria, poses challenges and prompts questions about the cultural integration and the future social fabric of Spain. Furthermore, this dramatic change, coupled with starkly different values and beliefs, presents a clear and present danger to the safety and lives of Spanish citizens.
The ‘Great Replacement’ Theory and Its Implications
As reported at RAIR Foundation USA, this is part of the European Union’s “Great Replacement” scheme. EU elites, in collaboration with the United Nations, are employing mass Muslim migration to replace the European population. Illegal immigrants are aiding the left in their efforts to dilute host cultures, secure more votes, and consolidate their power.
