The President of Catalonia’s Parliament, Alba Vergés (ERC), attempted to silence and smear Spanish politician Ignacio Garriga (Vox) during a parliamentary session for criticizing the left-wing Government’s controversial decision to allocate 19 million euros for the hiring of illegal migrants.
According to Vergés, pointing out that the Catalonia government will spend nearly 20 million euros of taxpayers’ money to hire 630 illegals is deemed “hateful” by the Parliament’s president. “It’s insane, juridically, economically, and socially,” said Vox’s Secretary-General.
Furthermore, it is considered “hate speech” for Vox’s Deputy to state that by rewarding illegals with money and jobs, Spain’s Government is “legitimizing” and encouraging “law-breaking.”
The Catalonian Parliamentary President made it clear that politicians are not allowed to equate illegal immigration with criminality in any way, and the VOX deputy was instructed to retract his statements.
Meanwhile, there are 340,000 unemployed citizens residing in the Catalonia region in northeastern Spain that Vergés seems uninterested in.
