As they aggressively police their own citizens, the German government is still permitting flights from coronavirus-infected Iran and China. German Police have been patrolling parks and cities across the nation broadcasting Chinese coronavirus warnings and demanding citizens limit their activities and keep distance from each other. Certain towns across the country are choosing to impose strict curfews and locking down their communities completely.
German Chancellor Angela Merkel has threatened there will be an imminent lockdown if people do not start limiting their social activities.
As reported in DW News, the decision of whether to lock down Germany entirely hinges on the behavior of its citizens. Angela Merkel’s Chief of Staff, Helge Braun, described Saturday as a “key day” in deciding on a possible nationwide lockdown because of the coronavirus:
“The German government will closely monitor people’s behavior to see if they are taking the measures implemented this week seriously.”

Mayor Armin Ebhart, of Kürnbach Germany orders a mandatory curfew. Residents will only be allowed to leave their homes if they have to go to work, visit one’s life partner or to shop for food. Residents are ordered to keep a minimum distance of 1.5 meters from other people. Taking walks or training outdoors is allowed, but bizarrely, only when alone or with people who live in the same household. Kurnbach has ordered that public life be shut down almost completely until April 19, 2020.
