Unmasked: Patrick Young Leads Army of Democrat Foot Soldiers

One of the puppet masters lurking behind Shut Down DC is a middle aged, white radical who makes his living by using a tired old formula to overturn “the system.” Patrick Young, along with his allies, has been free to agitate, disrupt and destroy without much pushback, as they do the bidding of the democrat party.

Shut Down DC is a coalition-building organizing tool for the militant left. Patrick Young and his colleague Liz Butler have made a career of “organizing direct action” at Movement Catalyst.

From their website:

Direct action is at the heart of what Movement Catalyst does. We have decades of experience organizing all sorts of actions ranging from mass marches and rallies bringing together thousands of people to much smaller creative direct actions that disrupt business as usual. Over the years, we’ve marched thousands of people through the streets, blockaded hundreds of intersections, held moving candlelight vigils, occupied bank branches, blockaded fracking sites, hung massive banners off of buildings, hauled GoGo bands through town on flatbed trucks, painted murals on city streets, and organized head-start classes in corporate lobbies. [emphasis added]

As reported at RAIR Foundation USA, Shut Down DC colludes with other left-wing groups to engage in various actions. They have historically been involved with radical activism related to the global warming hoax, but have branched out to other issues.

December 7th Action

On December 7, 2021, Shut Down DC joined forces with others to block roads into the Capitol in order to show support for various socialist legislation, particularly “Build Back Better“. The Washington Post reported favorably on the illegal action that caused headaches for commuters:

Protests started around 7 a.m. and included plans for a brass band at Pennsylvania and Constitution avenues NW, a go-go band on a flatbed truck at the Potomac Avenue Metro station, another street blockade at Fourth Street and Independence Avenue SW, and others focused on climate and racial justice, said Hope Neyer, an organizer with ShutDownDC and a junior at American University studying public health. [Emphasis added]

Notice that Patrick Young and Movement Catalyst were missing from the Washington Post report.

The article continued to say that Reps. Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.), Ayanna Pressley (D-Mass.), Jan Schakowsky (D-Ill.) and Luis J. Correa (D-Calif.) and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) and others were all directly involved in some capacity.

Notably, a video of the day posted by the blandly-named but radical left coalition “The Center for Popular Democracy” (which has it’s roots in the disgraced group ACORN) illustrates how many “grassroots protesters” are associated with SEIU (see the purple hats). This author wonders if these people even knew why they were marching:

Shut Down DC is also known for targeting the homes of perceived political enemies such as Josh Hawley, Mitch McConnell, and Joe Manchin.

Patrick Young

Patrick Young describes himself as an “organizer, agitator, educator” on Twitter. He cut his teeth working with labor unions and most recently, served as a “Senior Research Analyst” for the International Brotherhood of Teamsters according to his LinkedIn Profile. He is now a Partner at Movement Catalyst.

Patrick Young penned a very revealing article about how the supposed “grassroots” movements of anti-Trump Resist J20 on Trump’s inauguration, the Dakota Access Pipeline in 2016 and the Ferguson uprising in 2014 were contrived and organized:

…behind all of those dramatic moments, each of these uprisings relied on a complex network of movement infrastructure to make sure that everyone is fed and healthy, to facilitate communication and outreach, to provide legal support, and coordinate hundreds of other tasks to keep the action going.

While the left loves to pretend people spontaneously rise up to support their socialist endeavor du jour, their “protests” are always organized by well funded leftist organizations.

Movement Catalyst, for example, claims to have “worked for NGOs and labor unions campaigning for climate, environmental, economic, women’s, and racial justice…” Movement Catalyst even hosted a “candlelight vigil” at the National Mall “for democracy and in remembrance of “the attack on democracy that occurred on Jan 6th, 2021.'”

In a Facebook post, Patrick Young revealed some of the names of his co-conspirators. One of those named is Liz Butler.

Liz Butler (a.k.a. Liz Paulson) is a long time activist and an organizer for Shut Down DC and vice president of organizing and strategic allegiances for Friends of the Earth Action. Liz Butler was an organizer of the Shut Down DC initiative ‘Earth Day to May Day’ in 2020.

Before and after the 2020 election, Shut Down DC was very active. They started plotting months before the election about how they would “force” the president from office. Days before the election, Shut Down DC sent a “target map” of Trump allies to their supporters.

After the election, they created a fake website designed to deceive conservatives that Mitch McConnell intended to “‘vote to convict Donald Trump’ during the farcical second impeachment trial.” They confronted and intimidated attorneys who were working to bring election fraud to light.

Currently, they are planning on confronting pro-life supporters on their annual march in D.C. with pro-abortion “art”.

Shut Down DC and their allied organizations are a part of a complex web of democrat-friendly left-wing foot soldiers. But the legacy media supports them, the democrats work with them, and the Republicans look in the opposite direction.
