Twitter temporarily suspended the official Vox Party account during their crucial election campaign in Catalonia, Spain. The left-wing social media company claims Vox “incited hatred” by linking illegal immigration with crime. Party leader, Santiago Abascal vows to sue the social network for “censoring” and “influencing” the Catalan regional election scheduled for February 14, 2021.
Vox is the “Make Spain Great Again Party” who defends traditional Spanish values, borders, and has a Trump-like message. According to polls Vox is the third-most popular political party in the country, and its fastest growing. They have risen to prominence on their strong anti-illegal immigration agenda.
The tweet that led to the suspension of the party’s account, states: “They account for approximately 0.2% (of the population) and are responsible for 93% of the complaints. Most are from the Maghreb. It is in Catalonia that there is unanimous indolence and complicity with imported crime. There’s only Vox left! #StopIslamization”
Spain’s socialist government led by Pedro Sánchez has been unwilling to stop the daily onslaught of illegal migrants pouring into the country. Not only has the socialist-leader contributed taxpayer money to left-wing organizations flooding Spain with the often dangerous migrants, but has been caught illegally distributing them throughout the country.
Despite anti-terrorist units warning the government of the threats by Islamic terrorists posing as migrants, they have refused to close their borders, properly vet illegals or deport the potential threats.
Media Misrepresentation
Vox’s secretary general, Javier Ortega Smith, sat down with Spanish left-wing news program, La Noche en 24 Hours, to discuss the troubling suspension of his party’s Twitter account.
The “journalist” interviewing Smith, Diego Losada, deployed a common tactic to deflect from the legitimate point made by Vox leader Santiago Abascal regarding illegal migrants and crime in Spain. While Abascal and his party is measured and consistent in calling out real harm inflicted on the Spanish citizens as a direct result of leftist open borders policies, the media instead tried to misrepresent the argument.
As American Abolitionist Frederick Douglass wisely observed in 1892: “It is a frequent and favorite device of an indefensible cause to misstate and pervert the views of those who advocate a good cause.”

Coordinated Election Interference
Twitter is preventing Vox from spreading their messages on their official party account at a crucial and sensitive time of the electoral period. Due to the restrictions of coronavirus lockdowns and the left-wing media, it requires a great effort from a conservative political party to get their messages across. Social media is a vital tool to speak directly to constituents and reach new potential voters. Something to which Vox has always devoted a lot of energy.
Abascal slammed the left-wing social media company and accused its executives of “attacking freedom and democracy by censoring public representatives of millions of Spaniards”.
Vox has spent weeks campaigning against Twitter and other social networks after they meddled in the U.S. elections. Social media platforms censored and subsequently banned U.S. President Donald Trump permanently,
If the president of the world’s leading power [Donald Trump] is censored by Twitter, Facebook, Amazon, YouTube, Google or Apple, what will they not do to an ordinary Spaniard or to any citizen of another nation?
Abascal and other Vox leaders have denounced the actions of these platforms to act unilaterally and without judicial control to silence people with whom they do not agree. The conservative leader warned that the silencing of President Trump was a “very dangerous” precedent that threatened freedom of expression and the sovereignty of nations.
RAIR readers are well aware of the coordinated attacks made to President Donald Trump to impact the 2020 campaign. As reported at RAIR, a conspiratorial alliance between major media outlets, corporations and big tech monopolies known as the Trusted News Initiative (TNI) set their sights on the U.S. presidential election, and also openly interfered in the U.K. 2019 general election and the Taiwan 2020 general election. Is it a stretch to consider that there is a coordinated campaign to bring down the Vox Party and influence another election?

Many thank to Gary Fouse for the translation:
Twitter has temporarily limited your official account, I think, my co-workers, we have a screen-cap of this tweet that caused the temporary suspension of the… Vox Twitter account-for breaching the rules that prohibit conduct inciting hate, do not permit threats to cause or foment violence against other persons for motives of race, religion, gender or nationality.
We are looking at the tweet from Santiago Abascal.
He says they are attacking freedom. And if we could see, co-workers, the tweet in question in which you said… that “They account for approximately 0.2% and are responsible for 93% of the reported crimes.
The majority are from the Maghreb.” You are referring to the migrants.
—Yes.
You say, “It is Catalunya,”— that you are watching there —
“It is Catalunya that is allowing the ubiquitous indolence and complicity with imported delinquency. Stop Islamization.”
Our attention was called to the data which you note, without mentioning sources, that 0.2% are responsible for 93% of reported crimes — the migrants — Where did you get this data?
This is public data. This is not data that Vox invented.
From which agency? —
This data is from the Interior Ministry. From the number of reported crimes.
And, believe me, the problem with social media is that they have stopped being the way they are sold.
—Why don’t you cite them? Why don’t you cite the sources?
Look, it’s on Twitter, and maybe the one who edits the tweet did not post the complete information — maybe, you could reproach that.
Yes, but allow me, I would like you to answer me…
—Why not?
There is this list of facts compiled by our documentation team, and we have…the source is INE, The National Institute of Statistics, and it tells us the major portion of those convicted in 2019, the last year in which I believe the data was registered, were of Spanish nationality— 75% compared to 76% the previous year.
Among foreigners, those from European countries — EU — not from Maghreb nor from Africa, represent the largest part of those convicted —And there is more data, if you want, I will give you. Convicted of crimes — Spanish nationality, 39,903,for Africa, 9,667 — As for minor offenders, 73 — 67-77.3% infractions committed by Spanish minors, 22.7% foreigners. Data from Catalan Police:
Nationality of the largest number of detentions: Spanish — 41%, Moroccan — 16%, Pakistani — 7%
Catalan Police. You say that 93% of reported crime…
Yes, but you know what happens. This is playing with statistics… if you talk to me about global figures, about the total population, maybe the percentage is less.
But when you take out the percentage of foreigners who are in Spain, and on this percentage of foreigners, calculate the number of reported crimes, then the percentage changes because you are talking about global data.
No, we have this because we have also done the calculation because… in the case of sex crimes, Allow me a question, what percentage of the population is that?
Because you said… I am sure, I am sure you want to know the data that I just mentioned.
If I say it, keep asking.
Sex crimes by migrants…They are responsible for 32.6%.
It is certain that is a high percentage because foreigners represent 10.7% of the population in Spain. —This is what we wanted to get to…
—But that has nothing to do with the 93% you said in your tweet that caused the temporary suspension of Twitter It’s that you have [unintelligible] data. You must begin there… you must begin by saying…
What is the number of foreigners? And then say, within this percentage of foreigners, what is the percentage of [unintelligible]?
And you will see one thing: That by percentage, it is triple, probably, that of the non-illegal immigrant population.
But look, there is a question which for those in Catalunya is indisputable Immigration
— OK, I say Catalunya because this refers to Catalunya.
What is indisputable… is that together with illegal immigration — and I emphasize illegal— because normally, much of the communication media says Vox is anti-immigration; we are against illegal immigration, illegal migration — those who assault the borders, those who are in the unaccompanied minors centers.
Those who are around immigration that leads to…
without doubt because nobody denies this [unintelligible], live ready, unfortunately, unfortunately, people who end up in delinquency, and in drugs. Go ask in the Canaries, and the assaults they have in the Canaries. The delinquency in the streets of the Canaries.
The other day, we saw how some migrants in the Canaries assaulted and beat [unintelligible].
I was asking, are you going to file a compliant?
Yes, of course. We are going to file a complaint because you said that social media have dropped already in evidence — the great lie they put forward. They are not these free platforms of thought where communication flows rapidly.
They act as authentic means of controlled censorship, who say who can publish something and who cannot. And when they don’t like the message of the tweet, [unintelligible] if we can listen to [unintelligible] applauded from Twitter, terrorist threats. If we can listen to the Catalan separatists from Twitter saying they should strike Spain and revoke the Constitution, And Twitter doesn’t sanction them. All kinds of messages from the extreme Left, Marxists calling for attack, from Twitter, against the actions of Vox, against Vox sites, against Vox candidates. They are not censored.
But when Vox provides data that makes them very nervous, because it makes them very nervous that there is an electoral campaign, and Vox is reporting for example, we have statistics. The largest number of Salafist mosques linked to jihadist arrests, linked to terrorism, are in Catalunya.
And when you put this on Twitter, out comes the hand of censorship, of these media controlled by large companies, telling you whether you can publish it or not.
It is a lie that has very short legs. And we will continue to denounce it. If they shut down this account, we will open other accounts.
It is an attack on political liberty. And besides, we say something else, because we have communicated to the Twitter directives — not just make sanctions. Rather they have done an especially serious thing, because they did it on the day the election campaign began, so that our account, which for sure, of the accounts that have the largest number of followers [unintelligible] they have silenced us.
This is very serious, it is an attack on democracy, an attack on freedom of expression.
—[unintelligible] if you want to give me the data from the Ministry that you say exists…
Of course,… —We [unintelligible] the data from the National Institute… so that you have them.
I repeat that the studies must be carried out, and that the statistical data be done telling the whole truth, not speaking of absolute data, rather relative data — first, what is the percentage of the population?
And within this population, you tell me, how much, and you will see that the percentage of delinquency, and the percentage of rapes, and percentage of arrestees Is percentage-wise much greater than we see in the global population.
